So this isn't my (28F) story but my dad's (51M). I currently working at a place where he wanted to get a job at again as he had worked there previously and they really wanted him to come back. He has been working at an auto parts store and this is a store that he went back to as he had previously given them 14+ years of his life. He called his boss to tell him he was offered a new job and would be leaving as the other job was better for his health ( less time on his feet with neuropathy). Instead of trying to keep him by offering something better or even just saying ok, his boss cussed him out. He left the store unmanned as he was the only one there when it happened and will not be going back.
What nobody talks about with unions
How other bums make the same as you for doing less, way less. Especially these self entitled lazy punks coming out of highschool who wouldn’t know what hard work was if it punched them in the face. I’m tired of doing all the work and trying to teach people who are unteachable. For the 16 years I have left I’m afraid it’s just going to get worse and worse.
When people say all jobs will have someone you don’t like my response is to think “but how about if each job has a higher up treating you like you’re a nuisance or don’t give you the time of the day on a consistent basis? Kinda fucks with you mentally.” When I say I don’t like work, I mean I could like work if not for how higher ups manage it (or let’s be honest, how they don’t manage it properly) or how they treat their workers. Another issue I have with my job is how we’re not guaranteed consistent bathroom breaks if you really have to go if we’re short staffed and I work with children.
Chad anarcho-primitivist vs syndicalist
I worked for a restaurant years ago in CA where minimum wage at the time was $10 and I also got tips. I got hired at this steakhouse to finish out school and the pay is $2.13 plus tips. I had no idea restaurants outside of CA don’t pay employees but the guests do. Fucking insane! How is this never legal? This company doesn’t pay me….the guests are paying me. If anything I should be able to make my own schedule and be signed as contract work. Fuck work!
How to handle rude clients
Hi all! Just wondered if you have some advice for handling rude clients who expect you to be there 24/7 for them. To explain better, I have a client who noticed I am new at my current workplace and decided I am easy prey. He started calling only me on the work phone number when he has a request. The first time, he told me: “watch out, we work with other partners too, I insisted on working with you, so don't let me down”. Basically, there was a subtle threat that if I don't jump when he says jump, he will leave our company. The second time, he sent an email describing what he needed and called at the same time. The email barely arrived in my inbox than the phone started calling and when I explained that I will see what we can do for him (it was an…
