I’ve been working for my company for 2 years. It’s a start up, I joined right before the first covid-19 lockdown, taking a pay cut as I thought this was a better move for my career. I was promised training which 2 years later still hasn’t materialised. When I joined there was no system or training in place for the job, I was left on my own, I have worked hard and figured things out over the last two years, anything that exists now in the department has been built partly by me and two other guys, one of whom left a year ago. I started on less money than the new hires now do, and now still make the same money as the new hires, who I’m expected to train. Everyone else who has been here as long as I have has had new raises. I went to the…
THE SKULLS
THE SKULLS The crying, the dying Dusk despair sighing The soul-shattered shards of Why bother trying? People remade as political rubble Trust becomes rust, hope becomes trouble And everywhere, every square Always the lying Bluster and bureaucrat, always denying The scabrous blood steel of political blades Cut deep as integrity blushes and fades Division, incision, secession, derision Me versus you on a mind bruise collision While the cackling superiors, in comfort, recline Watch us for sport, sip a rare wine Knowing we’ll never unfix, unrig The game of the graves for ourselves that we dig Once we had eyes, once we could see But we fell for the swindle of you against me So addictive, so toxic, gets into the blood The cacklers love peasants to wrestle in mud While they pore over gold that never gets old Laugh at the rights that we so cheaply sold First was the…
My little brother's ex-roommate (she's having troubles so she's been calling me) told me that I was messing my little brother up with unrealistic expectations for how he can live. Not because I'm pressuring him at all, but because I have a job which affords an alright lifestyle and close to 5 weeks off a year. Because I've been able to a couple trips and afford more than the necessities. Everybody should get more than 5 weeks off a year. I don't know when I'll ever be able to buy a house. Certainly just got bumped out of my consideration for the next decade or so. I have student loans to pay off still. I have medications which would cost thousands a month if I lost my insurance so I can't afford to lose this job. But still I've got it better than so many in this country unfortunately.
Interesting Antiwork Strategy
These can be about unionizing, not taking bs from employers, or just a good general vent song about the hell hole that is the job market. My fav at the moment is “Weed Pin” by Drug Church
You know it’s a scam when
When you have to pay 30% of your income to stay out of prison
New Job, same bullshit
My new job stole my stat holiday. I work Tue-Sat and we had a Stat holiday recently. It was on a Monday, so they are supposed to give us a day off in lieu of that. But they just paid us Monday, and no extra day off was given. It's a heavy job, and I could use the rest. Loads of OT. Fuck work.
