I work in a clinic for one of the largest hospital systems on the planet. We’d recently been told we would be getting an economy raise— not a lot but enough that it would make a $100-$200 difference per paycheck. This upcoming paycheck is meant to be the first to reflect our raises, so we got our pay statements in our email today and our most senior employee, who’s been with the hospital for 22 years, had not received this raise. She works so hard and then goes home to take care of her mom with dementia. She never stops. She deserves it more than any of us. But because she has a final written warning (from missing too many days in the weeks leading up to when her father died) she doesn’t get it. And it’s bullshit. It makes me so angry. It wasn’t a performance raise, they’re literally…
Thinking about quitting my job
I’ve worked in the same restaurant for a little over 2 years now and while it was fun for a while, the endless stress of it and the rude customers we get on daily basis is starting to get to me. This wasn’t really a problem for me but since we got a new boss work has just been a nightmare. We’ve all tried to give her a chance but all she does is talk shut about us behind our backs and gaslight us. When she found out people had been complaining about her she threatened our managers to end their manager position if they didn’t end the shit-talk. She threatened to reduce a coworkers hours because the coworker refused to cover a shift no one was able to and when the boss said she couldn’t say no to it, my coworker called our higher up boss which our boss…
Government Employment Tips
I've been pestering the HR at my previous job to work out if and when I can get my 10 years long service leave. It took them 3 months to just respond to my emails and to “look into it”. They told me I was eligible a few years ago but I wasnt informed. Is this my responsibility to work out exactly how long I've been employed and when I can take my leave/get a payout? It looks like it may take ANOTHER 3 months to find out how much I'm entitled to as they aren't answering my emails again…
I hear so many people leaving their current jobs due to toxic work conditions. What would be a definition for it?

Backstory: I’m a mechanical engineer and I work 100% travel installing and overseeing install of robotics machines at customer sites. I travel to the job site at the beginning of the week, and then I return home at the end of the week. I am also full-time and I’m fairly certain I’m exempt from overtime. Over the last 6 months, and due to a multitude of reasons, many of the employees in my position have left the company, and we’ve hired contractors (hourly) to fill their positions. Also in that time, our projects have shifted entirely to the east coast. I’m currently the only employee located on the west coast, so this makes getting to the job site very time consuming. I recently found out that someone at my company complained to my HR department about my travel situation, as I’ve been flying in on Mondays and leaving on Fridays.…
I had this idea that I shared with some production bosses 3 weeks ago about cross training and having back up people for production positions just in case someone was late, sick, etc. A week later a boss who works under these bosses ups and quits forcing one of the day bosses, one of them I talked to, to come in and cover the guy who up and left. None of them brought up the conversation I had with them. Kinda feels satisfying. Am I wrong to think this way?
