-Coworker was killed (possible suicide) and decided that locking his account was more important than letting everyone know. -Manager emailed me to complain about my two weeks vacation request put in 3 months ago and if I can wait another 6 months

My birthday is this weekend and I don’t want to work that day. I have a part time job that’s only a few weekends a month and usually my boss asks me what weekends I want to work at the beginning of the month. I had been planning to ask for my birthday off so I could actually have it off for this year and do something fun. But she didn’t ask me this month and scheduled me on my birthday. I really want to call in that morning, but I’m feeling guilty now because several of the employees got Covid this week and we don’t have a ton of employees. However this is a small place and typically only 1 or 2 people are scheduled a day. So my coworker would probably be fine? I don’t know. Should I call in or suck it up and go into work?…

Not so fun fact: A very large (160+ corporate stores) (1000+ when you add the franchisee’s) folks with tenure with this particular organization are resigning. Hmmm I wonder why. This particular company did over 2.1 billion in sales last year. I’m one of them. Well just as soon as my new offer comes in with another organization.

Just two weeks ago i tried to force a mitre off of some gutter ( I work for a gutter company) well it came loose but I put too much force into it and went down with it right onto a metal fence. I'm not sure how far the drop was but it took a 28 foot ladder to get up there and it was such a long fall I actually had time to think about tucking my arms instead of holding them out and breaking them. My grandma and wife asked my boss why we don't use harnesses and his response was because we don't like them since they get tangled up but to be honest it's set up in a way that you could never use a harness due to the insane amount of worked forced on us, half the time we have to skip lunch. My friend works at a daycare. She has 2 kids so they’re able to go to said daycare. She’s noticed that her sons butt has constantly smelled like poop after leaving daycare even though he hasn’t pooped. She spoke with the main person at daycare and they said they’d address it. Few days go by and nothing changes. After 2 more conversations her son ended up severely red with his butt inflamed and very hard. A boil which was leaking pus and blood appeared. Her son is now in the hospital, he has to get his boil lanced and can’t leave the hospital until all redness is gone. She’s a single mom with 2 toddlers looking at 2 weeks with no pay. I currently am a college student working a part time retail sales job. I requested a month and a half out in advance that I need 5 days off, 3 of which are to go to a long time family friend's wedding, and 2 of which are for days where I need to take exams for my classes. I submitted my RTO request and my manager says she cant approve it because they do not have enough coverage in the store to support it. I enjoy working there, its a pretty good part time college gig, but I'm kinda fed up with the monotonous nature of the job. I don't want to come off as snobby or ungrateful because I'm grateful to have job currently, especially since a recession is nearing, but if talking to my manager tomorrow when I'm at work doesn't come to a resolution, should I quit…
