First political ad I’ve ever seen that had hard rock and fuck in the lyrics. Polished politician she is not. I like it.

Friends job might’ve caused boil on her sons butt.

My friend works at a daycare. She has 2 kids so they’re able to go to said daycare. She’s noticed that her sons butt has constantly smelled like poop after leaving daycare even though he hasn’t pooped. She spoke with the main person at daycare and they said they’d address it. Few days go by and nothing changes. After 2 more conversations her son ended up severely red with his butt inflamed and very hard. A boil which was leaking pus and blood appeared. Her son is now in the hospital, he has to get his boil lanced and can’t leave the hospital until all redness is gone. She’s a single mom with 2 toddlers looking at 2 weeks with no pay. The “teacher” in her sons room admitted over text to not changing his butt as good as she should’ve and not following protocol. Is there anything legally she…

Workplace won’t approve RTO request (Should I quit?)

I currently am a college student working a part time retail sales job. I requested a month and a half out in advance that I need 5 days off, 3 of which are to go to a long time family friend's wedding, and 2 of which are for days where I need to take exams for my classes. I submitted my RTO request and my manager says she cant approve it because they do not have enough coverage in the store to support it. I enjoy working there, its a pretty good part time college gig, but I'm kinda fed up with the monotonous nature of the job. I don't want to come off as snobby or ungrateful because I'm grateful to have job currently, especially since a recession is nearing, but if talking to my manager tomorrow when I'm at work doesn't come to a resolution, should I quit…

my job just keeps getting better

Nearing the end of my first week of training at my new job and it's been amazing so far. I crammed in nearly 40 hours and my managers are such wonderful people. Earlier I got a confirmation email about a hotel for us trainees to stay in next week since it's close to my workplace. I'm elated because I didn't even know about this and I don't have to travel back and forth for a few days next week. I'm also getting a free lunch next Monday and $170 work boots for completely free. This is the best job I've ever had to date and I'm glad this company do really care about their employees. I would name drop this company but since it's well known I can't say for privacy reasons. No red flags to report as of yet and it just keeps getting better!

EMS Workers Unionizing in MA – Support Needed!

Armstrong Ambulance service in Arlington, MA is about to go to a vote to unionize with the Teamsters Local 25 and we could use any support we can get! We have an official Instagram page at Armstrong United and a worker created page for debunking union-buster propaganda. Both could use followers and any other idea for support anyone has! For reference, EMTs start at $16/hr and Paramedics at $20/hr. After 2.5 years there, I never got a raise and was ultimately fired for trying to organize a union (still in the courts). We serve the suburbs of Boston which has some of the highest living costs in the country. We have to pursue our initial training on our own dime (about $1,500 for EMTs and $15,000 for medics) and receive no training besides the legal minimum for our certifications. The trucks and bases are in disrepair and we are constantly…

My job wants me to work during a tornado warning

Pretty much the title. This place doesn’t give a fuck about human life. They will have us work until the tornado is practically on our doorstep. I have taken shelter in a bathroom against what my supervisor said.

Can’t get housing without proof I have a slave master

I feed street people, I volunteer at charities, I help nature and animals, I play live music at yoga studios, I offer life whatever I have to uplift the energy. And I have the funds to pay for a leash around my neck, but because I don't have proof that some rich asshole owns my daily behavior, I'm not accepted into the community of small boxes and mounted televisions. Fuck me, right?

Reminder: You have nothing to be grateful to your employer for

You don't owe them anything. Not for giving you a job or for paying you, they are profiting off of your hard work, time, energy and well being while you aren't paid a fraction of what your labour makes them. People will say you should show gratitude for them giving you a job but unless you are being brought on as an owner or realistically paid the value of your labor there is nothing to be grateful for.

Are we the baddies?

Title is /s, the answer is yes. At a company meeting today, our higher-ups cheered on colleagues in China “choosing” to be quarantined at work instead of with their families. I don't know what to do with that, I just feel sick. At the beginning of the pandemic it was more understandable (we produce materials that go to vaccines and testing), but this feels like an escalation too far.
