I have emailed my boss before about changing my work schedule and they said that they will reconsider it after these 2 new hires get settled in. Well it’s a few months later and I have noticed there is a few people quitting so I am sort of afraid to ask again… I just need help formatting a email to ask to have my hours changed to an earlier time. I work night shift and it’s really effecting me mentally and physically. I have no time to go to my doctors appointments spend time with my family or even go grocery shopping. I just suck at asking and formatting emails so if anyone can help me that would be awesome!
Nurse manager issues
Hi! Just wanted to rant. I’m a nurse working in a small team. My line manager was promoted last year. She has been fine with me but at times she can micromanage. Nevertheless, that wasn’t an issue for me. I handed my resignation 2 months ago and since then she was being nasty. (note: we have a 3 months notice). She refused to give me my preferred annual leave days and basically replied, “she can’t because no one can cover you”. I had to move my remaining annual leave to accommodate the schedule she made. One of my colleagues told me I can go to HR as this is not allowed. No one can mandate you which day you should take for your leave. Anyway, my passive-aggressive self has let that go but she has been getting on my nerves lately. Even with a fixed schedule for everyone, she would…
This is somewhat of a stream of thought here – if you disagree with some of it, awesome. I just ask that you keep it civil and present your counter-argument. It’s also USA centric so I apologize to people outside the United States. There’s a lot of talk here about minimum wage. Like most, I support a minimum wage. And depending on the cost of living, it needs to be adjusted accordingly. Obviously $15 is the hot number now, but many think it should be higher. Sometimes much higher. And that’s the crux of my thoughts here and some disagreement. Realistically, can you really expect your favorite tiny coffee shop or cafe or clothing store or to survive if they have to pay that ever-increasing minimum wage? I know the response here: “if they can’t afford a living wage, they shouldn’t be in business.” Well, I disagree with you because…
I just re-familiarized myself with Kafka's Metamorphosis and was surprised at how relevant it is to the job, financial, and healthcare situation in America today. In the book, Gregor Samsa hates his job and hates his boss. He doesn't feel fulfilled by it. The only reason why he hasn't quit is because he needs it to support his family. However, his choice in the matter is removed when he wakes up as a giant bug. His boss even comes to check on him when he is unsatisfied with the fact that Gregor has missed work. Now that Gregor no longer has a job and cannot work (cuz he is a bug), the rest of his family now has to get jobs. This means that they aren't able to take care of him in the same ways they were before. They aren't around and can't always get him the food he…
