On the 1st of january 2022, I fractured and dislocated both my shoulders and had to undergo surgery, and my surgeon said i should stay off work untill may 2nd 2022. But my work is refusing to cover me after march 25 saying that as per company policy, I wasn’t “fully disabled” after that date, and yes they are right, but 8 hours a day on a computer would have made my situation worse, hence why the doctor gave me untill the 2nd of May. I talked to employee raltions saying i felt “medically discriminated against just because my work is sedentary” (i am mot sure if that is the correct phrase to use) and they came back to me today saying they conducted a “thorough investigation” and that they found out that my claim was wrong. The mental health damage done to me by this whole situation is great,…
I just got an email from the Sr Administrative Director saying that all administrative staff have to attended a virtual training session on a Saturday next month. The company is open your typical M-F 8-5. I am a full time employee working 40+ hours a week so any extra time I work is time and a half. The email was sent to me and 7 other people in our region who do not share an office. How do I ask if I am getting paid overtime to participate in this training? Do I reply all in the email or individually to the sender? What would happen if I happen to be “busy” during that Saturday? Also it’s worth mentioning that I can only clock in on my work desktop at my work site. Since it’s virtual, I can’t just clock in with out going into the office, I would have…
Self made millionaires my ass
It’s that all these companies sell these jobs as if they are careers. Someone better tell all these companies that their minimum wage isn’t meant to be a living wage. Ever go to one of these shitty companies? They hand out brochures “welcome to your new career!” They treat these jobs as careers. Are people expected to know they are lying? The pictures in the brochures are of actors wearing uniforms but they are always smiling like they aren’t choking from bills. Maybe if these companies were forthright with workers from the get go. “Hey we probably only need you part time, and your wage won’t be enough to live off of.” Would be honest but they can’t say THAT can they? So they gotta lie. It’s so funny they expect an employee to be forthright with them and do a good job right off the bat – even though…
Absolutely – tootely, fucking NOT. I do not live a life of luxury. I do not want to live a life of luxury. I am not paid to live a life of luxury. My efforts on the job will be sufficient to get the work done, and not a lick more. I am not staying for unpaid overtime, not answering work calls outside of work (I'm a technician, not a manager), not doing work things while at home. I apparently must study at home about things related to my work. And then put the things I learn into practice. I am still wondering when that extra paycheck will arrive at the end of every month… Instead of making time for those educations at work, we have to use our spare time for… Well, waiting around for work. No phones tho 🙂 I wonder when they'll cure psychopaths 🤔
I'm not sure how the narrative got flipped to “nobody wants to work” I've been applying for jobs every day and only gotten a single company that declined my application. The rest never responded. It doesn't matter if I call, email, apply on the website, or even go in person to talk with these people. These companies say they are desperate for workers but they don't want to hire anyone. I don't understand it. I had an interview with a guy at a food truck say “maybe nobody wants to work anymore” but he WASN'T EVEN OPEN during the hours he had posted on Facebook. He also couldn't even tell me a single day he wanted help. I have a good record and can provide references. What is wrong with this economy? How has the narrative been twisted so far upon itself that the blame is being passed on to…
