I’m done with this but I’m such a coward
For six months I’ve been solo managing a department in a store that was previously run by 3 people . I got offered the promotion only because for three years I was the teen who always covers (literally working every spare hour between my final exams) and there was nobody else because everyone else quit because of the managements bs. Because of the sheer quantity of the section I’ve had to resort to massive over time to meet the minimum of packing and ordering. I’ve been called to the office for a lack of motivation even though there wasn’t issue with the quality of my work. I may not be motivated anymore but I’m disciplined and always work to a standard and am polite with customers. They had the gall to ask if the old me was coming back . I’ve been told to cut my hours because for six…
Should I sign my contract?
A little backstory – I work for a school district as a school secretary. We are paid based on lanes and steps. I have always been paid on Lane 4 – (11 years) Steps are based on longevity. Last year the district did away with Lane 1 to raise the base pay of employees being paid on Lane 1. Unfortunately, when they did this, it ended up bumping the school secretaries down a lane. Now my contract which in the past has always been at Lane 4 is at Lane 3. I am irked to say the least and have not yet signed it. Am I being unreasonable, and is there any legal recourse for not signing?

This is what my husbands old employer made workers recite, like culty cheerleaders, in the break room during their daily ‘virtual huddle’. I could not have done this with a straight face. “We PROMISE to provide LEGENDARY service, each and every opportunity that we are fortunate enough to receive, so that we may be seen globally as the VIRTUE OF SERVICE, because we relentlessly care and sincerely value our customers more than any other company will ever have the courage to attempt, and we commit to achieving our PROMISE with HONOR, INTEGRITY, and COMPASSION. ALWAYS and FOREVER; and we will NEVER compromise.”
Hi everyone. I'm 17F and I work at a regional fast casual restaurant chain. My workplace is pretty chill and somewhat tightknit, managers are all really nice. This is my second job and I have been employed for under a year, employed here for 5 months. I only work once a week, so I'm doing it more for the experience/my resume than the money. Yesterday my GM called me to his desk and showed me my first quarterly report. He told me he was really happy because he only started working here a month before me and I was his first hire, yet I had one of the highest-scoring reports. Idk how these usually work but it was basically a paper of different behaviors/company values expected from me and I got perfect scores on almost all of them. He gave me a paper to sign saying I got a $0.15…
A PSA for holidays:
Workplaces that care about their employees and honor their time let them know farther than a few hours in advance whether or not they’ll be closed on a major holiday or not so that their employees can plan for their time off or on accordingly. That is all.
It’s getting Harder and Harder.
It's getting harder and harder to remember everything taught in Training. that when you take in calls a lot of unfamiliar calls goes in. And yet the management expects you to understand everything after they teach you everything. Training nowadays are all fast phased I couldn't keep up. Its like App Installation.
