Fight each other…shit
I’ve radicalized my coworkers.
Since starting at job, the following has happened: -Told my coworkers it’s illegal for them to ask us to not discuss wages -Also told them it’s illegal for us to not take breaks for 8+ hours of work (US based, not allowed a break when it was too busy) -Had a coworker get FURIOUS after learning she was making $15/hr when someone with fewer responsibilities and hired the same month is making $17.50/hr -Had another coworker say “Let’s all just turn in our resignations now” after I pointed out the fact that they left our BRAND NEW hire ALONE in the hardest part of the store when her trainer was late -Inspired an off-the-clock rant when we were at lunch and I mentioned that we are making far below our state’s minimum wage after tax I refuse to let my coworkers suffer in ignorance. I don’t care if I get…
Unreasonable Wages
Last year, I was 14 and working a job so I’d be able to go out and be able to do things, have spending money etc. I started working at a brunch restaurant as a dishwasher working on the weekends. Well as I live in Texas and the minimum wage is $7.25 here I went ahead and only asked for $9 hourly only to realize how $9 an hour is actually nothing at all. I was working nine hour shifts twice a week to get at most 300 per month. Honestly wages are so low it’s unreasonable
Paid by the hour
Maybe this is the problem. Maybe we should be charging by the task not the hour. Not all jobs require your constant presence yet we sit around “looking busy”.
So I am a 28/M infrastructure engineer that runs a crew of 6 in a small office in my city. We do everything from mapping, finding, implementation, etc. of underground infrastructure. I have been at my firm for the last year and a couple months. I was hired on at a lower position than my experience level (Previous manager hired his best friend who was under-qualified for the position) so I got stuck where I was. Well, I recently got that promotion after a months-long fight. I was already doing the work of the position I wanted to move into, but for less pay. Eventually I told my boss that I didn't feel appreciated after a complete sh*t show of a project where he didn't listen to my advice on how to run the project (That's right, I called a BUNCH of stuff that was coming down the pipeline from…
I work at a fast food restaurant in NC and lately they’ve transitioned from traditional drive-thru window service to sending people outside with tablets like Chick Fil A. Just not as classy. This has been going on about a year. When this was first introduced we could wear alternate work shirts that weren’t black. We had a shitty umbrella for shade at least and cold packs for our necks. It’s not even Summer yet and all that has disappeared. No umbrella for shade, no alternate shirts, no cold packs. Just take this shitty tablet go out on the black asphalt during the hottest part of the day and don’t forget the upsells. We can wear shorts but only outside, we were told we have to change back to long pants once we come back in. WTF? We stay out there for 2-3 hour increments. There was a girl today literally…
I’m so mentally exhausted…
Throwaway account for reasons… I’m just so tired of working. I have nothing left in me. A bit of back story; I’m a receptionist and at my previous place of employment, I was beat down almost every single day by the manager. When she wasn’t there, she would plaster my desk with sticky notes the day before. My mental health was declining and I wasn’t the best employee because I called in sick a lot. Near the end of working there, my anxiety blew up and I was one breakdown away from checking myself into the mental hospital. I couldn’t eat, sleep or do anything but cry and panic. I stayed with my mom who took me to the hospital twice and I was put on another med. I started to go to therapy but the workplace was so toxic that one time I left in the middle of my…
I recently joined a startup where I handle the HR department and the Social Media department and I want a designation that is suited to the job description, whereas my manager wants to give me the designation of an “HR Executive” which i believe doesn't quite fit the bill. The pay is great, benefits are great, but I'm confused about my designation, any suggestions?
So I have been an bookkeeper with a small sized law firm for 7 years. My manager of 10 months had a violent outburst last week where is slammed her keyboard into her desk several times (all for the stupidest reason). I'm afraid of reporting her to the managing attorney because I think it would tank my career with the company if she remains onboard. This is the first violent outburst I have seen but she is incredibly two faced and most of the staff hate her but I dont think the lawyers have seen any of it. This will really be the first time it is brought to the light. Do you send the details in an email or have a meeting face to face. Any advise is welcome.
