I figure this is a good sub to ask the above. Something like an anti-Tripadvisor where people specifically list out businesses in the service and/or retail industries that are at least currently doing things to keep their workers down. Obviously checking lower ratings on the normal sites is one way to get a vibe. But that is mostly about like food taste or ranting about customer services. I for one would love to know if I am coming across someplace new (or old to me even) have bad ethics with how they treat workers. Maybe see if they have “let go” of lots of workers even though they have been profitable. For example, Best Buy cut thousands of workers at the end of 2020/beginning of 2021 even though they were seasoned workers (lots of which chose to keep working so others that wanted/needed to stay in actual lock down could).…
I recently applied for a night shift position at a major grocery store line. The concept of the job is simple. I am in need of work close to my home. I arrive for my first shift at 12am on the dot and meet the other crew. Instead of telling me the goal of the job the guy starts telling me to load items by cart in which aisle they go. This would require me within 30min to know where every item is in the store. I begin doing this and the guy pulls me aside because I placed the canned pineapple next to the juice. He says “Hey man don’t fucking bullshit me cause the last guy did and he’s not here”. “This doesn’t go here”. I then call him out on it being the first 45 min of my first shift and this is bullshit. I restrain. Grab…
Capitalism has ruined dating
Back then, you could socialize, spend quality time, and maybe end up getting married. But now, you must skip all that and get married to survive.
Like for example, get some aloe, and lavender, 2 more ingredients I forgot, and boom you made soap. If I had the money to even do this I’d do it for y’all, like straight up have some nice homes for u and ur family Some hospitals and a pretty cool place to live
I work in a distribution warehouse in Georgia, it’s a shitty job but pays the bills (I thought). Last week I got an alert to take cover due to there being tornadoes touching ground in my area an hour before I was expected to go into work. I’ve never experienced tornadoes being anywhere within a 50 mile radius of me so I was shitty bricks during this. I called my job to tell them I wasn’t coming in due to the tornadoes and made the bold assumption they’d be understanding. So the storm clears up a bit and even though it’s pouring rain I decide to go into work the next day since I need this job. I assumed my managers would understand me not wanting to go in during TORNADOES but apparently not. My manager walks up to me while I’m working to tell me yesterday would be counted…
I was interviewing recently with a well known company in customer service and it was going pretty well until the last stage of the interview where recruiter R had some absurd rules to point and ask me to sign the contract. The last bit of conversation went something like this…. R: Looking at your resume, the talk we've had up until now and the discussion of compensation, i think you'd be a great fit here. Me: Thank you, yes. I'm very much looking forward to working with your company. R: That sounds great. But i have a few questions before we close this discussion. Starting with, have you ever had criminal charges or ever been to court for corporate law related issues with your previous employers? Me: No, and no. I have no criminal charges and i've made it clear while submitting your online application. Haven't gone to court for…
