Simple really. A corporate wealth tax would way easier. And then! so many well-intentioned ppl (along with some other unattractively defensive greedy ppl) could stop wastefully (and perhaps endlessly) arguing (and/or complaining) about the complications surrounding taxing “unrealized gains” blah blah blah. Just get to the point already! As in: Where’s most of the wealth stored? Yep, stocks, also known as equity (well, and also land, but that’s a topic for another day). So, if Apple Corp has 100,000,000 shares outstanding, just have the gov’t say, “Hey Apple (and every other large public company), we’re going to dilute your shareholders at a rate of 1% this year. In other words, we’re going to have you go ahead and create 1,000,000 new Apple shares and give them to us. We agree that we are then obligated to autosell these shares in small batches on the open market over the next 365…
While I won't get into much of the problems with taxation itself, I'm sure most of us can agree that theres at least something wrong with some of it. Generally, the arguments supporting it are that we need tax money, for things like roads, school systems, etc, and I agree with that, or I agree that we need money for those things, but what if there is another way to get that money, something other than taxation, a way that doesn't put the burden on the backs of citizens (or anyone) and rather a way that could actually help citizens and create more job opportunities. China is known for it's Industy Nationaization. Which is the process of making privately owned industries into state (government) owned industries. State owned industries account for 40% of Chinas entire GDP (Gross Domestic Product: The total value of goods produced and services provided in a…
Robots in the Kitchen?
This was advertised to me randomly on YouTube. What are your thoughts on this? I like how automation liberates us from work, but when it's wielded by capital only those with capital benefit. Robotic Automation for Restaurants | Miso Robotics

Weird Interview question
Friend of mine interviewed for a job at a large corporation today. Interview was virtual amd position is 100% remote. Three people conducted the interview. The HR manager asked “What was your work ethic in high school?” My friend has a bachelor's degree, married with kids and is in her 40s. WHY would they ask such a question? I wonder if it was to assess her agr maybe? What do yall think?
Stop generalizing about landlords
Okay, people. I’ve seen a ton of comments recently posting about the shared loathing for landlords, and I think some perspective may help…. In the past, I’ve lived under some pretty litigious landlords, and let’s not mention apartment complexes, as those are NOT the same thing. My current landlords are a retired couple, one is a retired chemist and the other is a retired molecular biologist. They do all of the work on their homes, and when they can’t, they hire so that the work can be done. They’ve come out on a moment’s notice to fix my water heater; they live 2 hours away. I couldn’t have asked for a more reasonable setup. They have 2 others homes in my area (don’t ask, not telling), one of which has been recently renovated with a wheelchair ramp for the tenant that they did at NO extra cost. My landlords donate…
Hello! Long time lurker, first time posting. The company that I work for has been awful to us in various ways. I'm trying to set something up where we can give a customer a link to send feedback to our higher mangers to their work email. I've been looking around for a few hours trying to find the best way to do this but have come up with nothing. Ideally, it would just be a single page with a text box where they can send feedback to multiple email addresses (both of the managers). Has anyone done anything like this before? Sorry for the formatting or grammar, I'm writing this quickly. Thank you!
Work advice
I’ve been working as a tech for 5 years ( including my externship) I worked 4 years with cvs, an integrative medical site and now a compounding pharmacy. I was at medical site for 6 months. I was not comfortable with the way things were done but enjoyed my coworker and the time flexibility I had but the pay was not enough. I joined the compounding lab and I’m on my second month. I had to call out a couple weeks ago for a family emergency and was met by the pharmacist saying “ you need to be her everyday. I need someone who’s reliable.” Then proceeded to tell me to schedule around the two slowest days from the work week. Another thing she brought up was clocking in and out of work 5 mins early. The handbook stated work starts 10 mins before opening. Her ( pharmacist/ owner) daughters…
