Getting really sick of being catfished by potential employers.

I have interviewed with a few companies in the last six months and they have all posted full time positions then during the interview are like “LOL jking it’s only part time.” How is this acceptable? Today I hung up on a recruiter because not only did she continue to interrupt me while trying to answer a question, she also told me the posting was for part time only. Screw you. I am happy to say I accepted a job offer two weeks ago for full time employment and start tomorrow but I wanted to feel this company out. Just a rant.

Why do most companies use overtime as incentive for applicant’s?

A little background before my short…ish rant. I (38M) have worked in retail, production/warehouse, delivery, construction, logging and am currently a truck driver. Throughout my 2+decades of jobs I've had, every one advertised that they “offer” overtime to those that want it, however all have penalized me for not wanting it. Currently I am looking for a different job mainly because I had an agreement of 35-45 hours a week and am consistently getting 55-65 hours. I mean money is great, but not nearly as good as going home and spending afternoons with my family. So while looking at different jobs. Everyone lists overtime under the same category as signing bonuses, consistent hometime, weekends off, etc. Wouldn't it be more accurate to put overtime under the “requirement” section instead? Also, why is it they can agree to one thing but then back out of it directly after?

I couldn’t imagine being the only employee at a business

My s/o is the only employee where he works. It is a small business, but it is a packaging and shipping store. Family owned (like a knock off post office I guess) He is trying to work up the nerve to put in his one month notice and it’s taking such a toll on him mentally. It breaks my heart. He’s stressed because he’s the only employee in the whole store and if he quits his boss has no employees (which is why he’s giving a one month notice instead of two week) On top of being the only employee, he only makes $11 an hour!!! (Up until the other week he was making $10/hr) It’s absolutely sickening. He’s so extremely overworked and stressed and I just wish I could help him. He needs to nut up and cut ties with that place. No one should have to work in…

The Las Vegas Job Fair was a joke

Seriously, if I wasn't so desperate for a job I would have just left. All the info for the fair said there would be 100+ companies there (not even close), $18 plus an hour (most were between $10 and $13), and there would be onsite interviews (only a few did this. Mainly MGM and Keolis). Every other company was literally just “oh sure we will take your resume. go to our website and fill out an application”, like I haven't been doing that for 3 months to no avail. I am about to just give up. Wasted a bunch of gas, time, and energy. I literally expect nothing to come of this.

(Vent) No one needs a job in reality.

The thing that really pisses me off about political speeches is the ridiculous requirement that the main goal of any policy is “the creation of jobs”. It's in every single speech where the economy is involved and permeates even the well-meaning progressives' stances. The thing that pisses me off about it is that they're downright obsessed about whether or not people have a job. As if having employment is a basic requirement like breathing and eating. I'm not sure how to properly voice this problem because a word for “gaslighting people into thinking they need labor like they need air” does not exist in the English language (if there is I haven't heard of it). People don't need labor. We've never needed labor. Labor has always been the thing we use to get the things we need. You need to eat and drink, you use labor to get the food…

I strongly dislike American politics

I feel like it's all a waste of my fucking time. I used to care about it all so much. I was a strong Bernie supporter in 2016. I strongly believed in free healthcare, lower college tuition, ending the wars, freeing non-violent drug offenders, raising the minimum wage, equal laws for the LGBTQ community, ending police brutality, making more higher paying jobs and career options for everyone, better more lenient immigration laws, affordable mental health treatment and in general stuff that will help the working class. Yet, most of my friends and family are strong Biden supporters who call themselves “moderates”. They think my ideas are unrealistic and in order to get anything done in our government we must compromise with the Republicans. I'm sick of it all so much. I feel like nothing ever gets done, no one takes my political views seriously enough, I'm too pessimistic etc. I…

sick af. call boss. he says “did you forget that i don’t care?”

Click bait title. Been sick since Monday. Worked remote Monday. Texted boss Tuesday morning saying that I'll be out of office; I'm sick. Cancel all my meetings. This morning, expect to go to work. Still feel like shit. Call boss instead of text. No answer. Leave voice mail. Cancel all meetings again. Boss calls back 30 minutes later. Tell him I'm sick and I'm not going to be around. He replies while chuckling “did you forget that i don't care? Take care of yourself and I'll see you later this week.” You have to understand his sarcasm that gets lost in text but i just wanted to tell you fine folks that there is good management at good companies out there. I don't know how to find them but i feel lucky to be where I'm at.

Co-Worker Made Crazy Comment Before I Left Work

So I leave work at 3PM. To add context I have a different schedule than everyone at my job. The regular schedule is 8:30-5 but I negotiated a new schedule because I was going to leave and start a new job. The reason being is I needed a new schedule so I can get home on time to watch my son so my fiance can get to work. She stays home with the baby all day while I work. Luckily she works part time (2-3 hours a day) and still makes decent money. But not enough to afford childcare, just enough to pay the bills. 7 people were off today (3 we're call outs). I clocked out at 3 like I do everyday and a co worker made a comment saying “Where are you going? There's a lot of work and no people?”. I responded saying I have to go…
