No, I don't want more fucking hours. I don't want to have to be here more than I'm at home with my family. What I want is for you cheap fucks to pay me a liveable fucking wage so I'm not barely scraping by week to week. I don't want to have to work a crazy amount of hours just to get by. Fuck man.
A rant about minimum wage.
Just need to rant a little about the job economy of where I’m working, so for starters lemme just state that I live in the United States in the state of Mississippi where we don’t have a state minimum wage, stores can basically pay you whatever tf they want, I work two jobs, part time retail work at a dollar general (think Walgreens but far shittier) and full time dairy farmer, I get 40 minutes of sleep a day on a normal day, I work my ass off and somehow I’m still broke, at the dollar general I make 8.25$ an hour at the dollar general and they constantly cut my hours to where at this point I’m never getting a day off from work there but never getting paid overtime either (working exactly 35.5 hours a week so they don’t have to pay me overtime) and 70$ a day…
I work at a daycare as the lead teacher. We have a curriculum coordinator whose job is to shop for supplies. We turn in our lists on certain days and she does all of the shopping at once. I turned my list in 3 days before the deadline and put the date on it, but after her usual shopping day, I never received supplies. I just asked her about it, and she said, “you never turned it in.” I said, “yes, I turned it in on Wednesday.” She said “no you didn’t.” I pointed at the supply list tray sitting in her desk with my list right on top of it and said, “It’s right there with the date on it.” This woman looked me in my face and said, “No it’s not, but here, take it and make whatever changes you need and turn it back in for the…
I have a call center job that I have been working at remotely for the past 2 years. Eventually, I will have to come back to the office. My doctor keeps giving me 6 month work from home extensions, but my employer stated that I may be required to come back to the office anyway, and all work from home will eventually be ended permanently. My lifetime dream is to drive around the country in a Class C RV, and work a call center job (I hate it, but it takes nearly no effort for me to do). I believe I found a job that is 100% remote forever, but they will not allow me to connect with mobile data or satellite devices, regardless of how well they work. I have run my current work from home operation with both TMobile and Verion devices without technical issue. How can I…
New to this sub but have felt this way for years and am happy to have found my way here. Sorry if my post is out of place, just wanted your insight. I've been reading through the posts and am starting to second guess what I'm doing after seeing how much worse so many others have it and how bad the job market is. I was fooled by all the talk of labor shortages and “we're hiring” but now I'm afraid to leave a stable-ish (but very unhealthy) job. TL:DR: I'm a teacher in a shitty conservative district; angry racist parents run the school and admin hides in their offices while we're free to be verbally abused, sexually harassed, threatened, etc with no support and no consequences for the kids. Our trumpy school board has our contracts and union in their sights and things are going to get MUCH worse…
I stalked the company on Companies House and found they have approx 11 employees, make under £10m revenue and have been loss-making for at least the last 2 years. From what I could see on linkedin, their staff seem to be remote workers dotted around the country. Not sure how the colleagues 'enjoy spending time together' via Teams calls… https://preview.redd.it/tduzv28o2ju81.png?width=733&format=png&auto=webp&s=9d09f47be2409870f84757131dda23c1ba8abc0d
