Started working remotely 6 weeks ago… ive yet to be assigned any work. What would you do?

I started working for an employment agency 6 weeks ago. It's a 6 month temporary contract w/ potential to go permanent, with one of the largest banks in the world. I'm fully remote. I met with my manager via zoom on the first day. Other than that ive had basically 0 contact with my mansger. Ive watched some BS training videos (at My leisure) and attended random meetings (with hundreds of people), so I'm not obligated to participate, in fact no one knows whether I do or don't attend these meetings. My manager has yet to assign me any real work, or even emailed me. I'm getting paid a decent salary (>$80,000). My manager has about 30 people under him, including 8 people in similar roles to myself (temporary contractors). Maybe my manager is too busy and I've even forgotten about? Maybe they don't expect me to do any work…

I didn’t get a promotion because I made a complaint?

So I'm about to just quit this job honestly. I essentially applied outside of my department because of a creep at work who, when I addressed it with my supervisor how this guy is sexually harassing people they said they would look into it. Never did. A week later I applied outside of my department for a management position. I am definitely qualified for the position, have had management experience before and the HR said they were strongly going to push for me getting this job. I saw my position even posted online after my interview. So everything was looking good. Fast forward I end up making a complaint to a higher up manager because mine did absolutely nothing and I had enough. This guy was going on about his creepy sex addiction and everything. Well HR gets involved and I had to make a statement to them. They told…

Leaving new job to return to old job for promotion and more money. Badly burned bridges, but I feel like I’m doing what’s best for me.

Long story short, I started a new job four months ago after two of my former managers asked me to go to a new company with them. I realized that it just wasn’t a good fit for me and talked to my old company about going back. They are bringing me back at a higher level/salary (nearly $20K more than the job I started four months ago). I gave notice the other day and both managers are very upset. They both agree that I’ve burned bridges. Is there anything I can do? I tried explaining that I just felt like it wasn’t a great fit and why, but they are still extremely angry. I don’t want to lose these professional relationships. What can I do? Returning to my old company for a higher salary just feels right for me right now. Am I a horrible person for doing this to…

Went for interview when it was actually a work trial

So Thursday, I did a work trial for a company. Hated the job so don’t take it. I mention another job they have there, boss say talk to the manager who runs it and he’ll pay me for the work trial. I get call on Friday from the boss and he wants me to come in. I think It’s to talk to the manger about the other job and to get paid for the day I worked I turn up is smart interview clothes, turns out, it’s a another work trial for the job I said about. Didn’t even mention that in the phone call. Don’t see the manager or the boss. I work 4 hours. They tell me they got someone else starting tomorrow and they’ll let me know if there’s a job for me cos they don’t know their work hours and they’ll pay me for the day.…

Former manager won’t answer my emails about delayed pay

I had work for the same company (a hospital ) for years now, during the pandemic my department was elbows deep, at some point last year my manager said she talk to the VP of the company about getting service pay. (25% over your actual pay) for working curbside which meant being outside in the winter exposing yourself with sick covid patients, even this wasn’t my main role I was throw into this shifts more than once 15hrs total, I never saw “service Pay” on my payslips so I reach out first my supervisor said she forgot to put the hours in, cool i giver her a month then nothing happened, reach out to payroll and they said I wasn’t getting services pay because it wasn’t OT, I told them that the email that was send by my manager didn’t specified that it need to be OT, it said any…

U.S. Bankruptcy System Faces Government Pushback Over New Corporate Tactics

This should be absolutely criminal and the executive board should be charged criminally. Sadly, there’s no law preventing this, but most politicians don’t give a shit and just give finger wagging to not lose voters. hopefully this is not behind a paywall

Mentality shift – aspirations

I'll preface this with that I'm in a semi fortunate position. Teaching abroad. Comfortable salary. Worked hard to get to where I am, and fortunate enough to have the talents to engage my pupils at most things I put my hand to. However, over the last few years I've struggled with the stepping stones of the career and really had to break down what I want. The societal vibe that people need to be ambitious can officially do one. So, I've decided that my ambition is to wander about and point at stuff that I like and go 'that's decent'. It's really taken the stress of work away. I know this won't help many, but to me it's been a game changer. Ambitions aren't limited to your career or temporary work. Find your happy. Adjust your goals. Eat the rich. As you were.
