I've been working for my company for almost a year and was getting tired of constantly having more and more tasks added to my work load with little recognition and no pay increase so I set up a meeting with my manager (O), his manager (E, who is notorious for being rude and uncooperative and is another reason I've wanted to leave), and HR (T) for yesterday 3/24. I know it's a bit unconventional but with the rise in inflation and the fact that I was already looking for new jobs, I wanted to see what they thought I was worth. Keep in mind I had sat down with O a week prior and expressed my concerns about my compensation and he is the one that told me to schedule the meeting and that he would “go to bat” for me. Unsurprisingly the meeting didn't go great, I stated my…
So I’ve been working for this company for 6 years. It’s a small construction company and I literally do every thing. I’m taken advantage of constantly and on top of that, I get no benefits what so ever. I don’t even get paid time and a half when I work over 40 hours. I know it’s a small construction company and I don’t expect the world but a little appreciation goes a long way. He didn’t even give me a Christmas bonus this year and I was literally his only employee for that period. None of his jobs would have been finished if I wasn’t there. Maybe this has been a blessing in disguise because I’m finally fed up enough too realize that I have options. I have a family friend in the carpenters union who is going to be helping me get on and starting out, I’ll be making…
A little update of my previous post
A while ago I posted about my nightmare of a co-worker with her passive-aggressive and petty af behavior towards me. Well it got interesting. She decided to start her crap with me the day after I attended a funeral for a friend and brother-in-law (sister's husband's brother). I was still kind of dealing with that situation and was in a mood. I knew eventually she would catch me on a bad day and I wouldn't be able to stop myself from unleashing a barrage of sarcasm and veiled insults in my rather calm demeanor. I pointed how how trivial these things were that she obsessed with. I pointed out the fact that she's pretty much had a saddle strapped to my backside since DAY ONE. I pointed out that I was rather sick and tired of her b.s. and that if it continued, I would take the matter to H.R.…
I decided to get some experience on my resume by volunteering. This position is 100% remote, I'll never have to interact with anyone in person. As part of the onboarding, I have to fill out 10 forms. That's fine, I guess…. …..But I can only be “hired” once I go to the local police station and get my fingerprints taken? It's not like I'm applying to the Pentagon, I'd be doing some marketing on evenings.
Hey r/antiwork! First post, but I'd appreciate the help. I work as a ghost tour guide. As you can imagine, there are not customers every night, so there's no consistency, I was told a different story (verbally) in regard to bonuses, and suffer horrible communication with the “management” which is all handled ONLINE. This is making me very unhappy with this employer. Grievances: in no specific order 1. I have requested pay stubs OVER TEN TIMES and have blatantly been ignored (but the next day they'll ask me to work). 2. Being asked to work on my days marked unavailable. 3. Repeatedly asking for more shifts, even offering to cover more CITIES, but being ignored.. 4. AFTER getting a second job (due to above), requested to come in on nights they KNOW I work. 5. Being TOLD at the last-minute that I would have to SUPERVISE a tour for a…
I'm out. r/antiwork is now just another place on the internet for mild, feel-good liberals to spew anti-work rhetoric so they can substitute it for direct, meaningful action. There will never be even an attempt at actual revolution as long as it's like this. Fuck this, I'm out.
I wish growing food for my community was as profitable as tending to rich peoples gardens.
