I (21F) have been working as a host in restaurants for three years now. My current restaurant has a free rewards program that us hosts have to mention to every table. The town this restaurant is in is super small and very local. Everyone who comes in during my morning/early afternoon shift is either a regular or old and doesn’t understand emails. Somehow we apparently need seven signups per shift. It’s basically impossible for our location unless it’s a rare busy shift full of new people or I make fake emails to use for it. The managers still insisted on having a piece of paper at the host stand with “REMEMBER THE REWARDS PROGAM,” on it every day. They never said it verbally and they never made any mention that it was such a big deal. They didn’t say it either to customers when they would sit them or interact…
Resignation Gloating
Gave my two weeks notice to move to a different company with better pay and a lot less responsibilities. Nothing felt better than witnessing reality settling in for my boss when he realized exactly the level of work I was doing. In a couple of weeks I’ll no longer have 19 projects on my plate… and they are getting 3 ( yes THREE ) senior staff to fill in for me. Cheers!
Finally saw one in the wild.
How it started -> How it’s going
I work as a Software developer and am usually paid once a month. I woke up on payday and found I had not been paid, for a months of work. I asked why and was told that it's a “glitch” Needless to say that as a software developer “it's a glitch' is not a sufficient explanation. Despite everyone on my team relying on me and the client expecting to meet with me I left them all hanging and refuse to answer their calls. I told my boss we can discuss my new salary when they deposit my entire paycheck. My boss is scrambling to make excuses to me and the clients and is unhappy and the team is without senior leadership. So there is a lot of people.wondering where I am right now and the projects are dead in the water.
I'm at a Five Guys for lunch right now. They have a placard up front advertising their hourly wage. My burger, small fries, and a small drink costs more than their hourly wage. I can't in good conscience eat here anymore. Sorry Five Guys. This is my last burger from you. Step up your game.
“Do you have any piercings or tattoos?” I don't have either, however I was surprised by this question (Phone interview) as I feel it is a loaded question if you say “yes”. I feel like this is discrimination or at the very least extremely out dated thinking.
In 2020, our company made the decision to fire roughly half of the employees in my division. I ended up getting shifted to a new position. Well surprise! About 4 or 5 of our competitors *did not* fire people. They hired a bunch of the guys we let go and started competing in our spaces. Company decides the logical thing to do is raise prices by 25%. They also start charging for a bunch of services we used to do for free. Client base shrinks by 30% over the past year. VP says “clients are definitely willing to pay more judging from the success of our premium services”. OK, then why was the net profit $10 million in 2020 but only $3 million now? Sometimes I think people just exist on an entirely different world. The answers are so obvious but they can't see it. TL;DR: Company fired a ton…
