Interviewing for a significant pay raise but feeling anxiety over how screwed I’ll leave my current coworkers.

I’ve been at my job for over 10 years. My pay was decent enough at the time, but my raises barely kept up with inflation and now they’ve been less than keeping up for the last few years. I started looking around and am seeing not only that other hospitals are starting people with my experience at a significant increase from my current job, but I’m also seeing that my job has the worst “help wanted” advert among all the hospitals I have looked at….no wonder nobody is applying to out hospital, the benefits and salary aren’t even mentioned, compared to other ads that clearly state the pay and how desperate they are. It makes me feel like my hospital is just pretending to try and hire people while they let us run at full productivity on a skeleton crew. After my working interview I will be speaking to management…

Renting in America Sucks

The fact that I can afford a trip abroad for my parents and a different trip abroad for myself, but I don’t get paid enough to be qualified for an apartment is absurd. I have savings because I live with my parents, but I’d like to not have to do that forever. This is dumb. Thanks for coming to my rant.

Found out executives get a benefit they don’t need.

My boss just told me something infuriating. Apparently at my company, executives not only make 6 figure salaries and get annual bonuses around $50k, but also receive financial assistance when buying a home. And I don’t know, call me crazy, but I just feel like if someone is making that much money they’re not necessarily someone who needs help paying for a home. I’m not saying that the lower positions like mine are the ones that deserve financial assistance. I just think it’s weird that those who are already given so much get that much more. You know what I mean? It feels like an unnecessary benefit, one that has such less value to someone in their position. It really is true. The rich get richer… Am I wrong for thinking this? Am I not understanding?

Interesting to see PWC trialling shorter working weeks but no surprise to see a backlash so quick

I feel lied to

I started a job and I told them in the interview I was looking at 3 days a week the official contract is only 8 hours but I was aware overtime was likely so I let them know my limits . It’s a part time roll yet on my first week I just did 5 days of work plus an extra morning for training. So 6 days in total of being there. I’m concerned they aren’t interested in listening to their employees just like my training was done on a day I specifically told them I couldn’t do but had no choice. And for now I’m stuck in the job . Don’t need advice really just complaining that these multi million companies know we have no power to do anything Edit- I think I need to talk to them absolutely I am going to message and speak to the manager…

Has the “weekend” been slowly losing its meaning nowadays?

I won't drown anyone with a wall of text, but it seems the weekend is slowly losing its meaning now that most employers constantly ask if their employees can work weekends. Or is it just me constantly running into expectations that I should be a workaholic?

Turns out if you give people what they want, you get employees.
