So I was in the break room waiting on my interview to start. Someone was in there having a break. Hiring manager walked in and looked at the employee and goes “Back to work, now.” And like snapped her fingers at her and pointed at the door. And the girl goes “I’ve got 10 minutes left.” And the hiring manager goes “I don’t care. Off your phone. Back to work. NOW.” And then turned to me and was like trying to shake my hand and introduce herself all nice, like I didn’t just witness her being a total psychopath. And then she proceeded to tell me the position I applied for wasn’t available but she brought me in anyway because of good word-of-mouth reference… like I owed her something for that? And then tried to convince me to take a different shift and different FTE than I applied for. Fuck…
I work at a mental health organization in Indiana where I get paid $17.64 per hour to teach life skills to kids (one being a 4-year-old girl with PTSD). We accrue PTO hours as we work. Today, I received a written warning for using too much “unscheduled PTO” in the last quarter. I followed the rules with it by calling in an hour ahead of time when I had to do so. All of it was used when my 1.5 year old daughter was sick. Apparently, I have to plan ahead for my daughter to get sick and am not allowed to use the PTO I earned how I please. Please do not make the mistake of thinking NFPs won't exploit their workers because they have a “social mission.” This one in particular “emphasizes” self-care for employees. Truth is, for-profit or non-profit, if you don't save them money, you're fucking…
My girlfriend was recently informed that in a week, she will be let go from her position at work. They have informed ~50% of their staff of the same. They also shot out an email, requesting all employees formally submit their resignation, in order to keep “payroll on time” Link to the email Just so anyone who may not be informed, the moment you submit a resignation, you are no longer eligible for unemployment benefits, and you should NEVER sign a resignation, unless you are either receiving benefits, or are willingly leaving the job, so as to not burn bridges in case of referrals being required. HR is not your friend. HR was trying to actively fuck over my girlfriend and her coworkers by telling them to sign at the risk of not being paid. They have to pay you, and this is an empty threat that only benefits the…

Do you tip for take out/to go orders?
So I’m curious, I was talking to a buddy and this topic came up. Should we be or not be tipping for a take out/to go order? Example: to go order at chili’s. Were you go inside and pick up the order. Also what about those places where you go to a counter and place your order and you pick up the order from the counter. No service is being provided as far as bringing you your order, refilling drinks, picking up trash. Just for context, I worked in a restaurant where I took people their to go orders to their cars and several people didn’t tip and it didn’t bother me because I wasn’t providing them with a service. Also, I’ve heard that TIPS is a acronym for To Insure Proper Service. If no service is provided, other than what fast food restaurants do, do you tip? Why and…
