Writing an Article

Hey guys and gals, I'm writing an article on how jobs today have changed, specifically the issues people have faced between 2000-present that represent companies not caring for their employees. Can you guys help by giving various experiences you have encountered personally? Pay issues, vacation issues, med leave, terrible bosses/supervisors, and downright abusive encounters in the workplace that never got resolved would be appreciated!!!! If you don't want to name any names that's fine, but if you can, NAME THE COMPANIES. Try to keep as many identifiers off of your back to protect yourself in the process too! Thank you! Jay

I think we’re making slow but steady progress

Context: I'm a guy who just turned 18 finishing my senior year of high school. I live in Texas. I honestly believe we are making progress, even if it's a little bit. I've worked 3 jobs, the first paid me 9.25 back in 2020 right before Covid hit, then my second job paid me 10.25 in 2021. And just a week ago I got hired for 13 an hour!!! I know this battle seems difficult and it also seems like we're not making any progress at all, but things are slowly but surely getting better. Thanks to everyone's efforts and commitment, we are making small but noticeable strides. Thank you to this subreddit for showing me and many others our worth, we don't have to take it anymore.

I was shorted $700 on my latest paycheck from my large Public School employer. How can I respond?

TLDR: There was an error in approving WFH hours which resulted in me losing 3 days of pay. Is there anything I can do to be petty/get the money back before my next paycheck? Full story: I work at one of the largest public schools in the US. They offered a very rare 3 days of WFH to us in my last pay period. I utilized the opportunity and submitted my time accordingly. It was never approved. I believe my manager is one of the people at fault as they did not approve the hours, but my manager is genuinely an amazing, supportive person who is also overworked. People above them also overlooked this so it is not just their fault. Thankfully, my bills are paid so I will be OK. However, I am cutting it extremely close on my credit card balance and in general am not in a…

Tipping at Subway!?!?

I have been seeing more fast food places using merchant service portals that automatically ask for a tip that you HAVE to decline or accept before proceeding. What can I do to push back on these disgusting employers that think I should be subsidizing there employees while they rake in profits?

Tips seem to be being stolen. Advice?

Ok so I'm a shift manager for a small fast-casual restaurant with 2 locations and a main kitchen. The chain of command as relevant here basically goes Owner -> District Manager (manages kitchen and both restaurants, but doesn't actually work in the restaurants 99% of the time) -> Store Manager (does actually serve customers sometimes and I believe is also hourly)-> Shift Manager -> regular employees. The staff is pretty small since we're a tiny restaurant that isn't very busy and doesn't require a lot of labor to operate. So there's basically me who does most of the PM shifts, the other shift manager who does most of the AM shifts, our store manager who fills in our off days and generally works in the AM, and like 5 regular employees. One of the employees only works once a week, and they were concerned about how few tips they were…

Danish University Project about high resignation rates at Amazon Fulfillment Centers

Greetings; We are a group of students at Roskilde University Campus in Denmark, RUC (https://ruc.dk/en) where we study social sciences. We are currently doing a term project about why Amazon experiences such a high resignation rate. Regarding this, we would like to talk to people who have worked or currently work at Amazon Fulfillment Centers to get an idea of what a typical workday is like, and why they quit. We offer complete anonymity of course and would like to get in touch with people who have worked at Amazon. Therefore, we would like this community's help with finding said people. Would you be interested in talking to us about this topic? For anyone interested we have additional information that we will provide when you get in touch! If You have any questions or hesitations, we will gladly help to clear them up for you – please do not hesitate…
