Why can casual workers be treated so poorly? I was fired from my job today after my shift because I asked for a written contract before I began working (just so I had written down the pay rate, when I was to be payed etc. for my own insurance, I have been under-payed as a casual before). The location was new, and so my boss told me he had “lost his hard drive and files with a contract” and would get it to me “within the week”. Basically this is what it comes down to. I don't want regular workplace violence between management and regular workers. We should aim for harmony and where both management and workers can be respected and win. But we all know people take advantage of other people. And if management wants to work me all week and all weekend, for no overtime pay, basically exploiting me, explain to me why I shouldn't have the right to punch them in the face. Corporations and management have been getting away with murder because they know we won't do anything. Worst case scenario, we quit. That's why they all can treat us like shit. I worked all week, and irked today and will work tomorrow and upcoming week for no overtime pay. (Overtime pay exempt for accounting). So if I'm being exploited and not even getting paid for it, why shouldn't i have the right…
