This is how you do it
We have a Herculean task to educate workers of their rights (as free human beings) and to educate managers about the limits of their power (they do not own you) Management: The arrival time of any human for any activity is a random variable (whether they are doctors, or pilots, or burger flippers). It’s up to management to understand their workforce, incentivize their workforce, and plan accordingly. If a gap in coverage is really bad then you MUST schedule overlapping shifts. YOU MAY NOT demand early unpaid arrival in order to avoid gaps in coverage or fail to pay time worked as punishment. That is a demand for unpaid labor. If a worker is late too often you can fire them – that is your only recourse. Workers: you NEVER need to provide any info about why you want a day off. The reason why is 100% irrelevant and none…
Get in the zone
Apologies, mobile. I finally have a story to share on here. I work at a well-known auto parts store. I just started working there about 2 months ago. I’m quitting soon. Why? Law in my state says that schedules must be posted 2 weeks in advance. Schedules for the next week get posted 2 days before the next week starts. Our schedule starts Sundays. Schedule got posted yesterday. My manager got arrested recently for beating his wife in front of his kids and strangling her. Then broke his restraining order multiple times. Anti-union propaganda in our training. They will fire you for attempting to unionize. And they don’t care if they get in trouble for it either. The neighborhood I work in is extremely unsafe. I already remember how much I hate it, I have to balance this shitty job with school and my craft. Crazy how I’ve had a great year so far but the second i start another wage slave terrible job my life feels like hell I really can’t do it but I need the money.
Hi, I'm a student working for $14 an hour. I get tipped pretty generously. However my employer only gives me $1 per hour in tips no matter how much I get tipped. I know that I should be making more than $20 an hour in tips alone. Several people have already asked the employer but to no avail. I work in Gaithersburg, Maryland. How should I proceed or who can I file a complaint to?

I’ve worked for three CEO’s. One of them has appeared on CNBC because the company was public. I’d like to tell a few of my favorite stories. This is my first story… 1) CEO had a tight schedule to make a flight but didn’t wish to leave his car at the airport. So, there I was riding shotgun to the airport with the intention to take his car back to his home. I noticed the car was stick and thought it was presumptive of him to think I could drive his car even though it wouldn’t be a problem. He drove like a maniac to the airport… bobbing and weaving… it was uncomfortable. We…
