they dont pay me enough here
I caught my job in blatant wage theft and I told my owner today (family business) that I am the one employee they can't afford to fire because I will destroy his business overnight with the evidence I have. Monday I'm going back to have a full meeting with him and the other two owners because they finally realized that I am not bluffing whatsoever Fuck them. Before anyone asks, I haven't taken action because of the collateral damage it would cause to actual good workers across the industry
Working with chronic conditions..??
I have an undx condition that causes stifling nerve, bone, vascular, muscle, and joint pain. Daily. Every miserable f*cking day of my life. The nerve pain bothers me the most as it’s constant but intensifies. What’s more, is it’s exacerbated with use (walking, typing, brushing my hair, holding a book, eating, etc.) and comes full force in flares. I work as a nurse as-needed and in pathology/lab full-time. I call out OFTEN bc I’m in pain that brings me to tears often. I’ve been dropped from schedule before, from a job that didn’t irritate the nerve pain. His reason was because he was “looking out for me”. Can’t get disability without a dx. Can’t find a job that doesn’t require the use of HANDS. Don’t know how to frame it to my employer that my condition is unpredictable, and I can be running one minute, and crumpled on the floor…
Why did you guys quit and what did you decide to do to make a living away from a traditional job
Anti Work ? Anti Life?
Can this be both a anti work anti life post? I have been a teacher for the last 6 years, love teaching hate the pay, over worked, admin. stuff we have to do daily. Working during covid was tough, working “after” covid students are more lazy than ever. This week was teacher appreciation week (woo) and I unfortunately have been sick this whole week. The other teachers at work are mad at me for having to cover classes (because we don't have subs wonder why…because the district barely pays them…), admin is also mad at me (same situation when we take off we get mad angry looks from admin), students are mad because I'm not there grading their assignments and magically making their grade from a F to an A at almost the end of the quarter because now they realize they are failing and haven't done any work all…
I’m an architect, working for a pretty famous studio in my country, and because of that, I think I’m constantly justifying to myself that is worth it. Every single day I work overtime, I have a lot of different projects going on at the same time, the complexity and demands get bigger and the deadlines get smaller every day. The pressure is huge. Now we are moving to a new office space and they asked us to come to help organize the work stations. I got to the new place and everything was still being painted, somethings were under construction and the moving trucks were only starting to come. So me (a manager) and my staff had to spend the day carrying heavy boxes up and down, cleaning, helping to install cabinets and the place ended up far from being a workable office, because there were still many things to…
Nietzsche quote
Those who commend work. – In the glorification of 'work', in the unwearied talk of the 'blessing of work', I see the same covert idea as in the praise of useful impersonal actions: that of fear of everything individual. Fundamentally, one now feels at the sight of work – one always means by work that hard industriousness from early till late – that such work is the best policeman, that it keeps everyone in bounds and can mightily hinder the development of reason, covetousness, desire for independence. For it uses up an extraordinary amount of nervous energy, which is thus denied to reflection, brooding, dreaming, worrying, loving, hating; it sets a small goal always in sight and guarantees easy and regular satisfactions. Thus a society in which there is continual hard work will have more security: and security is now worshipped as the supreme divinity. – And now! Horror! Precisely…
