They teach you how to throw money into the stock market( a manipulated market controlled by elite and not necessary for financial responsibility in life) in elementary school. They never teach you how to file your own taxes ( basic financial knowledge necessary for adult life and financial responsibility) though. Hmmm
I'm sorry if this isn't the right place for this post. Let me know, and I will take it down. Major venting, and might be a long post. I've been lurking on this sub for a while. I've been inspired, motivated, angered, and more thanks to those of who who have shared what they are feeling and going through. I was brought up in a right wing family, in a small right wing town, and some friends of mine and I are some of the only progressive-minded people around here, so it's hard to have a serious talk with anyone. I work at Price Chopper/Market 32, who recently merged with Tops Markets. They made nearly $5 billion in profits in 2021. Like everywhere else, payroll is cut to a disgusting degree. I work in the dairy department, and over the past 10 years, I've had so many assistants and part-timers…
I work in a restaurant and one if the kitchen managers purposely burned the hand of his employee as a “joke” Yes burned… he poured hot grease on his hand 2 weeks ago and it's still healing. I just found out that it wasn't an accident The employee thinks it's no big deal but I don't find it funny. I really don't want to be retaliated against… which is why I'm sooo nervous to report it. I just don't want drama with HR, but this is serious.. P.s. one of the bosses knows about it but didn't say anything.
I don’t know where to post this, so if this doesn’t belong here, please tell me a better suited subreddit. And not r/legaladvice, tried there and nobody replied. My coworker and I are males. We’ve been having issues with two other coworker whom are both females. Today they left to go to lunch and left a phone behind. The microphone was pointed towards us so I thought that was a little suspect. I went over to her desk and tapped her phone and saw that the phone was recording. She recorded our entire conversation without us knowing. Under NY law 250.00, this seems illegal. Is this illegal and if so, how do I go about handling this? Obviously this is in New York. Thanks in advance!
Question on bathrooms?
Not sure what to title this, but I work as a security guard in a guardhouse letting trucks in and out from 6am to 6pm. I get 2 “breaks” which is literally just the other guard who works the office and does patrols around the plant. Now, half the time my boss has meetings, or something comes up to where the guard can't make it out to relieve me so I can use the restroom, and when I do get relieved I'm gonna for like 15-20 minutes because the bathroom is literally across the plant. I don't hate my job, it's easy, I'm left alone and I can binge watch shows, or play games and I'm paid fairly well. But the fact that I have to piss in a gallon Arizona tea jug I think is bullshit, and I'm left the the whims of corporate meetings and other assorted distractions.…
Set a yearly work quota. So, if you finish 12 months worth of work in 7 months, the remaining 5 months should be paid time off. Fuck the “Above & Beyond” bullshit after you completed your due tasks. Life should be enjoyed. 3 weeks per year x 40 years(average work time until retirement) is 120 weeks, that is, 10 years of actual enjoyment. This means you are basically working till you die FFS.
(please no American legal advice. I am not American) So I finally asked my manager for a raise. I make €1800 / month, as a team leader, and my team members only work part time and make at least €1000 / month (for half my hours), which of course means that per hour, they actually make more than me. Which is, imo, absolutely insulting, especially bc my newest colleague is an absolute moron who i basically need to spend a huge chunk of my time babysitting. I work hella long ours as well, and sometimes on weekends, though i don't get any compensation for that. So i finally asked fo a raise. And i was brushed off, appearently, raises can only ne given at the beginning of each year. I've not been with the company a full year yet and didn't know this. It's insulting. I give so damn much…
