This is what billionaires want. They want you to think the government is so messed up that it can’t change so you just leave them with their money and hope they’re better than the government is to you. (They won’t be)

Are there any jobs that aren’t torture?

I work retail and have to deal with Karens (had a really awful one today) so I know my job is firmly in the “torture” category. But then I think about what I can do for a job if I escape this one and everything just seems like you are either overworked, have to deal with terrible bosses, have to deal with terrible clients, have to deal with terrible coworkers, have to deal with dangerous conditions, have to deal with something really uncomfortable like handling dead bodies or working in cold weather or all the other thousands of “catches” to basically every job I can think of. And if you do some kind of scam or grift where you take advantage of people then it's easy but you have the guilt of hurting other people which is also torture. And if I decide to be my own boss, then it's…

I hate that I’m so scared to quit a toxic environment

I have been working at a start up for about a year and a half now. I really enjoy the company and the mission (sustainability). But omg I can’t take it. Super long story short: my department head has absolutely no experience in our field. She’s really good at corporate bs though, even though the rest of the execs hate her. She’s the kind that you’ll ask a question and her answer will be five minutes long and sounds great but it never answers your actual question. My boss is great, I really like her. I’ve learned a lot from her. She’s coordinated a lot of really sweet surprises for me in the past year. The issue isn’t her though. It’s mainly the department head and the pay. I have asked for a raise three times and every time, I’ve been told not until they finish xyz. They say that’ll…

The Many ways we are Taxed.

We recieve a paycheck and have income taxes come out on a federal and state level. We go to purchase goods and we are taxed on those. Then those goods are sometimes categorized as property and again we are taxed. That’s three times taxed for working to acquire one item. It may not be technically as income isn’t really part of the transaction to purchase a good and owning property isn’t actually the transaction that is taxed by sales. But still in the example of a car the money I earned to purchase it is taxed at least three times.

Just found out my schedule was changed

I was hired to work for Sam’s Club and before I was hired, I made very clear that I have to leave by 9pm. I work full time and only work there part time. They agreed with my condition. 5 months later today, I just found out my schedule was changed to 10pm. I’m so pissed off and don’t know if I want to stay work here anymore. Their organization is so mess and I have been nothing but stressed out and unhappy. However, this is a nice extra income. I don’t know what to do

Unions are a check on THEIR power! Don’t let them fool you.

Most of us cannot afford to take any time off work to protest. This is by design. We will never claw back our rights if we do nothing, but we feel we need to do what we can to protect ourselves, our neighbors, our daughters and our sisters. We are so close to losing rights for many more people, all just human beings who are simply trying to make lives for themselves. Frankly, they've left us no choice. We must push the movement forward. We must protect our rights. The complaining will stop, as they've wanted, but only to recoil for a moment while we muster our strength. Our strength is in numbers and in our ability to empathize with the rest of the American electorate, the downtrodden. They're us and we're them. The cheapest, legally protected, and most direct action we can take RIGHT NOW is to begin a…
