When she told me, she asked not to tell any other coworkers, as she was embarrassed, I told her the only people who should be embarrassed is the company. They've been taking advantage of this woman for 15 years simply because she's been tricked into thinking she doesn't deserve more than $15 an hour. For reference, I have a BS in Biology and was offered $16. If she got a raise that at least equals inflation each year, she'd be making over $24 an hour. I'm thrilled to be leaving this shithole Edit: She is doing highly specialized environmental testing work.

People are resources
My employer hired a staffing firm to manage temporary positions and is a meta contractor that in turn subcontracts to individual temp agencies. Listening to their training the other day for managers… they refer to the people they send to us with as “resources”.
I've been saying for years that boycotts against huge companies like Amazon aren't effective. What I see as being way more effective is supporting the various unionization efforts across the country. Collective power for the workers has to be the foundation for anything else. Thing is, I don't know a ton about unions in general or specific unions or the best way to support people in them or to support people trying to form/join them. I'd love some resources for both learning and for action locally and country-wide. Thanks in advance!
Seen lots of posts where people have been told not to discuss wages. Has anyone actually reported their employer? If so what happened?
so basically, apparently this happened like many many years back. so he was some guy who did cellphone planning business, he was doing the best out of everybody else in a mall or something (he actually recommended plans), his pay was like 4$ an hour but if he got sales he would get more pay for the day. so he had a team leader guy, so my dad was doing well selling phones and such, the team leader proceeded to rip the profits out of his pockets to give it to some girl who the team leader (who was in his twenties at the time) wanted to impress. basically, the team leader was a simp. my dad proceeded to quit the job. this happened 20 years ago lol just wanted to share this story my dad said whilst we were chatting in the car.
Help! How do I quit?!?
Hello, I am a 25 year old (they/them) and I started my first big corporate job this past January. I work in advertising and deal with really large companies. I have no background in digital advertising. I only got the job because I was recruited and decided to try it out. It been three months, and while I have always suffered from poor mental health, right now it feels like I am in hell. I am sitting at my desk now crying because I have so many things to do and no time. I have stayed late and worked through my lunches all week and I am still behind. My boss got a promotion and isn't around as much. I work alone and have to manage three clients and I don't fucking know what I am doing. I also have PTSD and my memory is shot more than I thought…
