Throwaway for privacy. My husband submitted a resignation letter in early March and gave them more than 2 weeks notice – closer to 3 -3.5. He is the only person in this small business that knows his production area inside and out. He has asked the owners to hire him help many times before over the years and it's still just him. In his letter, he offered two options: his last day is the last day of March, or if they wanted to hire a replacement, he would train them and continue to work until the last day of May, but on a part time basis. They chose the end of March. We are 2 days away from the end of March and they asked him to stay until end of May since he offered. Excuse me what? He gave them two options and they made their choice. They're supposed…
My job is trying to retract a raise
My job gave us a three dollar raise. My supervisor and her boss another supervisor sent out a form stating the raise and it would be effective on 3/17. I signed the form and sent it back to my supervisor so she could sign it. Now our payroll person is stating he was told our raise wasn’t effective till 4/1. Any advice? I am pissed and confused.
My stepmother has been working the same job outside of university for 25 years. She is a school teacher. She's wanted to quit for the last few years but over COVID decided to stay. From my understanding, they have not always been the best employer and punish teachers based on their decisions (like taking multiple sick days or holidays can lead to less desirable classes, expectations outside the classrooms etc.) to the point where my stepmother has played the game. She has not used her sick leave to go to the dentist or doctor all these years instead going during holiday time and return to school as soon as possible when having a cold/flu because she is worried about the fallout. So with her wanting to quit, and quit with passion, she wants to use all her sick days before leaving. She started at 200 days and now is down…
I have an alright job on paper. Good pay, okayish work life balance, but I work with some of the worst human beings on the planet. Rude/Abusive managers, discord at the top of the management chain, high turnover at the hourly level, unfair treatment, gossip culture, all of it. It’s impacting me so much that I dread going to work and I plan on exiting ASAP. My question is, why are these people making the job so hard??
It’s at the point of retail manager positions needing a Bachelor’s. It’s just going to get worse. When are people going to talk about academic inflation? People shouldn’t need to go to college.
