I guess that in my years of working, I have forgotten how much I value two days of the week that is free of work emails/texts/slack. I recently chose between two offers for a part time gig, and it's clear to me that my employer (small company) doesn't communicate on weekends. I am just so elated. Especially since I work another job and was recently threatened to be fired after asserting my own boundaries around phone calls and communication. Okay, just here to say that weekends are sacred. Go play outside, find places without service, shut your phone off, whatever you gotta do to pretend that shit doesn't exist. We all deserve it and I'm so grateful I went with an employer that clearly values this.
Today I started a job with a company working remotely. They sent me a computer, monitors, everything I need, I got them set up Sunday and went to log in to get things started when I learned I didn’t have any of my credentials to access their server. I sent an email to the person doing my onboarding and my manager. Today my start time was 8AM (10 hour shifts with Friday being off basically) which came and went with no call of email. 12PM, still nothing. Another email to my coworkers and hiring agency and the hiring agency actually responded saying they would be in contact with the company, which nothing came from. Just got fired for having debt
I was until recently, a bus driver on an SEC campus. Saturday I was notified that I was on suspension over the weekend and to come into the office on Monday (i.e. Today). I arrived at the office for the scheduled 3 pm meeting and am directed to a conference room where a university police officer, a woman in business attire, the safety director, and the general manager are waiting for me. I take a seat not that close to them and ask them what this is about. The woman proceeds to ask me about my debt. Yes I know I have two outstanding car loans that I stopped paying on because the cars died on me and I didn't have the money to repair them or pay the loan.
