Just had a mandatory meeting this weekend at work (Dillas in Dentontx) and the GM made us all sign an anti gossip policy in response to employee concerns about nepotism, lack of integrity, and a long list of other issues. Instead of addressing these issues they are actively trying to limit our speech and even went so far as to tell us all repeatedly that our pay rate is confidential. It seems illegal to me but I don’t have money for a lawyer and a union is very unlikely considering half of the employees are young adults/teenagers with little to no previous job experience. Not sure what to do but I’m tired of companies doing this while also claiming to support the community and care about their employees.
Is this a legit complaint?
My boss has a double standard for the females on our team. While they can miss meetings, I get berated etc. I transferred over in October and saw red flags when 3 people retired as soon as he took the reigns. Literally, I was terrified to leave my desk, which is in my home, because this dude has it out for me. I told him I have ptsd and the position was effecting my mental health. I was moved off the team and now this dude won’t even acknowledge my existence. Will go out if his way to ignore me and then deny me the same flexibility he offers my coworkers (including the girl who started a month ago). I’m also the only one who has to go into the office everyday where I sit in cubicle land, alone, because no one is there. I feel like he’s taking it…
Hey all. I work for a money company that has been around for a very long time (since 1897. I looked in the company website). I make $15 and I do SO MUCH and the quantity of items I have to touch makes to sense compared to what I make. The cost of living and inflation is kicking our asses. So many people are leaving because they haven’t upped the pay. I’ve been there since November 2021. I asked someone else who’s been there for a while when was the last time they had a raise and they said 2017. That makes absolutely no sense. I understand that I’ve only been there for a short amount of time, but there are only 2 people in my area who do what I do. We started around the same time, and the manager and 2 of the supervisors have constantly told me…
Happy May Day everyone
If your feet hurt after an 8 hour work day or 40 hour work week. Be glad unions and the labour movement fought for an 8 hour work day/40 hour work week to be the norm and not a 10-16 hour work day with an unregulated amount of time in a week. If you've ever had to work overtime, and have been compensated at 1.5x/2x pay Thank unions and the labour movement. If you've never had to negotiate for your wage in any job and still earned above minimum wage. Thank unions and the labour movement. If you're thankful for having paid time off, vacation pay, paid sick leave, pensions, OSHA and safety regulations thank unions and the labour movement. If you're entitled to strike, advocate for yourself and your coworkers without being beaten, shot, hung or incarcerated thank unions and the labour movement. If you have weekends off, thank…
