I work for an Australian mining company. My job is amazing and I work with a lot of amazing people, but the industry itself is horrible. But that's another story. My story goes like this. My boss recently put me on a improvement probation at work. The reasons behind it were very vague, basically starting that I am not following some “company values”. No real reasons. It's complete horse shit. I recently had a child and in a “work life balance” meeting I had with him I stated that I want to take a step back, just focus on my current role and not take on any extra work, do any over time or set goals to move up in the company so that I could focus more of my energy into my wife and child. I hate that I need a job
I’m in high school and I want to spend my summer having fun, going to concerts, hanging out with friends, making bad decisions to laugh at. But, I need to work and that pisses me off so much. I applied to work at one job, got a rejection, then four minutes later I got an “invitation to apply” from the same goddamn company. At first I was gonna be picky and wasn’t going to work for less than $13 an hour and not more than 15 miles away, but that might not be an option anymore and it’s so disheartening. Plus, I’m under 18 so that severely limits where I can work. I’m so close to going back to my old job which I hated. I’ve looked into freelance and for…
Talking to my daughter yesterday. Her and boyfriend looking for a small house to rent in downstate Illinois. Tour the property, turn in an application (with an associated fee) then when they inquire the next day or day after are told, “sorry, the house was just rented.” Happened to them 4-6 times over the past week. Feels like the realtor or whoever is handling the rental process is collecting application fees from a group of prospective customers when in reality the property may (or may not) already be rented, or at least in the final stages. Don't know if it's illegal, but at a minimum very unethical.
