I worked delivery for a printing company in the late 90s. My first boss was a stand up guy and took care of his people. When he retired the owmer's brother was put in charge and he was kind of a dick. At my first quarterly evaluation under this new boss he offered me a 5 cent raise (under old boss I'd gotten 25 to 50 cent raise each quarter). I told him to keep his 5 cents. He looks confused. I tell him if 5 cents is the best they can offer the company obviously needs the money more than I do and got up and walked out.
Not much time back to work… My gm and dm just announced they're transfering out a new hire, pointing to high labor costs, but it doesn't make sense because all workers on ship have been pulling OT just to keep it afloat. Could the motive be something hidden, such as the PPP repayment stipulations?
Thank you for wasting your time
There are so many “influencers” and “motivational speakers” or “life coaches” on LinkedIn constantly regurgitating the same better working conditions, people are better than you think they are messages over and over again. It's basically a signal to other people who want to have better working conditions that they need to share and express their ideas about work, and what they've gone through and experienced. However, LinkedIn is not the place to share your honest opinions about anything. Plain and simple, it's a trap. The majority of LinkedIn users on a very active basis is managers, senior leaders, and recruiters. The three most dangerous and potentially ruthless groups of employees at a company ever. Managers and senior leaders are the gatekeepers for you to get promoted, higher pay, to keep your job. Recruiters are the gatekeepers for you to get better jobs or move into another company. So if you…
I got two doordash orders for krispy creme. Pulled up. The doors were locked. A woman in the car next to me yelled that the doors have been locked since she got there 20 minutes ago. She was also waiting on a doordash order after having to cancel the first two. The drive thru line was out to the street. We could see there was only a single employee inside and she in tears running around frantically with several feet worth of order receipts. After about 10 minutes we finally got her to come to the door. She broke down sobbing saying she couldn’t get anyone else to come in and that it would be at least an hour for our orders. The other dasher gave her a hug and we all just stood there like wow. If I were her I would have walked out at that point. Not…
So i work at a decent size enginnering firm. I started at the bottom and worked my way up with night courses etc. However after grinding it out i didnt end up anyway better than those that didnt do this. I was never considered for promotion even tho the company boasted several internal promotions a year. I could have taken at least 3 of these. I also never missed a day and was never late in fact i arrived before my shift to work. I never felt so unappreciated. I guess i also struggle with confidence. That i didnt think i could leave. I finally decided to do it so typed it up emailed it and went home. The next day i had a meeting with my line manager i told him i want to leave. I felt like he was clutching at straws like the carpet was pulled. He…
They admit They’re tightening the wcrews
Sorry, misspelled the title! Just a quick heads up on companies on after COVID policies. Had an interview with a government agency yesterday. One of the managers admitted that now that COVID is over a lot of clients and employees are going to be disgruntled and angry. The reason? “A lot of those COVID perks are going away and aren't coming back. Things like leniency in being a few minutes late, working from home, or having sick parents or children. We are going to be not so quick t approve PTO and start cracking down on things.” When asked if that was because of productivity, she said no, it's because people are getting away with too much these days and there's a loss of control. So there you have it straight from a Manager's mouth. And this was at a union place to boot.

I quit my job last night..
I feel such a relief that I don't have to go back to the toxic environment that I was working in any longer. My boss made everyone around him feel stupid and less than human, I stayed because he would have good days but I was just making excuses for him. I already have another job lined up with better benefits and Healthcare, better hours (4day work week) and better pay, and it's 5 miles from my house… I don't know if it will work out with this new employer but it can't be worse than what I left. Thank you to everyone here that gave me the push I needed.
