Sorry for formating, I'm on mobile. So basically I am returning to a position at a seasonal job. I worked for the company last year and made 19.40 and hour (not complying, also we love a unionized workplace) and was really happy. This year, I decided to return to the company and in the interview asked about my wages because seniority was supposed to give me an extra dollar an hour (I talked with my coworkers the year before and they told me that's what happened for them); they quoted me a pay increase of 2 dollars minimum, so I would be making between 21.30-26.10 an hour. I was really excited for this and had other jobs lined up but due to the pay and my previous experience, I decided to go with this company. Well, I was finally sent the onboarding papers and they are keeping my wage the…
My apologies- this is kind of lengthy… I’m very anxious to start working again. I started working customer service jobs when I was 17. I’m 22 now and about 5 months ago I quit my job and moved back in with my parents. For 2 years I was both working and going to school full-time. Covid hit and work (a grocery store) got very stressful. My responsibilities increased as well as constantly being called in to cover shifts, because people were constantly out for Covid. The store included all of these wonky safety policies and the customers were hella pissed about it. This included threats of write ups if we didn’t enforce the customers to wear masks. Sometimes there were limits on how much of certain items the customers could purchase per trip, etc… A lot of time customers would lose their cool and my managers/supervisors would let them get…
I'll provide some context. I started a job last November in a subsidiary of very big company. This job offer explicitly offered me to work from home, telling me that at some point down the line it's possible everyone comes back to the office. The offices for this subsidiary are 2h away from my house using public transport (I don't have a car), and in the case of having to go to the office daily I'd go to the main company headquarters building that is just 20 minutes away from my house. So, the situation is that tomorrow they organised a company wide meeting for the subsidiary. This means that they are asking me to come to the building that is 2 hours away from my house. Now, my schedule normally is 7:30am to 5pm, this meeting would be from 4:30pm to 7pm. This meeting will be accessible to everyone…
so frustrated
i posted here before but basically i was offered a position with 7:30-16:00 hours which i accepted, then they told me that i had to do a “training period” with 13:30-22:00 THE DAY BEFORE said training period started. which i physically can’t do because i share a ride with my wife, and i’d made that clear previously. it’s been a week now since i both left a message and sent an email explaining this, and asking if it could be fixed. then i sent another email to the personnel manager, who forwarded it to the dude responsible for scheduling. i have not turned up, and just waited for a reply. NOTHING. nothing for a whole week. not even a “yea fuck you then, you don’t have a job”. not a fucking bleep. on saturday i sent another email to the scheduling guy and the first person asking what gives, and…
I started a new office job and I hate it
It was very weird, as I didn't know that employers were doing this. Feels like a step towards Gattaca. The thing is, my counselor had me take one of these and it was shockingly accurate and helpful, but there is no way I would tell the truth on one to an employer. They aren't my counselor.
