AArrgh how to get through notice period
I'm sending in my resignation in 2 days but I have a 4 week notice period. I'm wondering how exactly to get through it because I'm already so exhausted, especially after a rough couple of weeks. I don't think my boss is completely awful but the environment that has been cultivated at this place is overwork and no proper way to complain or manage stress. Because it's a small business there is a lack of structure. Like the finance guy is also HR. I do want to finish the month though cause I need the money for other projects just need some advice on how to cope.
May the 4th, teachers strike back!
Help me Feel OK About Quitting
I'm I'm my 20s and I renovate houses. Today I was on my 3rd day of demolishing the bathroom of an old home, when I was informed by the boss that the floor most likely contained asbestos. I know they didn't know before I started working, but I am really pissed off about this. The problem is that my dad is the business owner, and I live with my parents. I know that if I quit this job I will get a lot of shit from them, but I really already hated this job and this asbestos thing feels like it should be the tipping point for me.
I posted a few days ago in here about wanting to quit my job after working three shifts and I did so successfully! I told my manager I was giving in my notice and she told me I still had to work one weeks notice, which seemed a little strange to me, especially considering I was still learning how to do things on the job so I didn’t get how they needed me for an extra week when I’d essentially just be learning procedure I’d end up needing to discard anyway? I’ve worked a weeks notice at other jobs where I worked for several months but I never heard having to do it for somewhere I worked for only a few days. I went back home and reread my contract and it stated one week notice is only applicable if you’ve worked at the company for one month, anything less…
So a manager at my workplace had told me to apply to two different jobs. Backstory: I was hired on for a position in which the person who left to another internal position was going to return to (this person now decided they aren't coming back to the role so I have been offered to continue). SO prior to knowing this person was not returning, the department manager told me to apply to an internal role, which I did. They insinuated I would get the role by saying things like “the interview is just a formality” and “I see you as a bridge between clients and our services” yada yada they hyped me up to feel like I'd gotten it. Fast forwarded, they hired someone else. I was pissed to say the least but I let it go. OH and I knew this ahead of time because my partner is…
My boss hasn’t paid me for two months
I started applying to jobs post grad early this year & found a super cool niche startup that has an amazing vision and concept. I did my research and it seemed like a legit organization. I was hired and started working on a 3 person team immediately to launch a new initiative. The startup is fairly small, the founder does the payroll, recruiting, hiring. This is my first role and I just really wanted a remote position. Basically the founder keeps emailing excuses saying that their insurance company took too much money out, that there were fraud charges & that BoA was unable to clear certain things on their end. This has been the excuse for the past two months + varying apologies and the founder has abruptly stopped our project a month ago. The emails are quite frankly hilarious and it looks like something out of Fyre Festival. I’m…
My job is threatening to fire me after taking away my remaining time off after missing a day due to sickness a day after they relieved me early because I was obviously ill. I ended up having pneumonia but they won't cover my time for that and I need this job. DM me if you have a positive physical test at home you would be willing to share with me.
Should I stay on payroll?
I’m not getting any hours at work due to lack of clients, there is no timeline when more clients will be available. It’s a good paying job when there are clients though. I just don’t see the point in staying on with them or how long they can keep me on payroll when I’m not working.
Fuck outsourcing.
I just need to vent a little. I work for a US-based company from another country, at a call centre. It’s absolutely fine, not the soul-crushing hell that call centre jobs usually are. No AHT, no goals to meet, not a lot of calls. I’ve genuinely liked working here for the past two months. However. I made the mistake of checking what our US-based colleagues are getting paid. Now, to be fair, I’ve never expected to be paid the same amount, I understand that the cost of living is significantly lower for us, etc. But Jesus Christ. Without mentioning concrete numbers — my US colleagues make about 200% more than the average for the same position. I make a little more than minimum wage. Like, if they paid us 200% more than the minimum wage in my country, they’d still be saving an exorbitant amount of money on us. It’s…
