I just can’t win at work
I learn through trial and error. If there's an obstacle that comes, I'm capable of improvising a solution. But it's not fast enough for the person I work for. I try to be faster but I make more mistakes. I have mild neurological issues causing the delayed thinking that I had to hide just to get this job but it's getting harder to hide. I've struggled with being employed my whole life due to this subtle disability discrimination. This is my first full time permanent job that offers benefits that I need. I can't get fired but I feel that I will. I can't win and I hate that.
Labor Union is USA
What Categories should be established if a labor union were to start in the USA? The idea would be to establish a balance of Employee vs. Employer when creating these points. We need to be fair and there are bad employees out there and there are good employers. Article 1 – PTO (minimum of 10 days after 30 day hired date. An additional 5 days for every year worked up to 5 weeks max. And a 30-day sabbatical every 5th year worked. Maternity and paternity leave 60 days. Medical leave for surgery of direct family member surgery 30 days.) Article 2 -Acceptable work force established Minimal pay. Federally and towards regions or county's. (If you live in an area that is a higher cost of living the minimal pay should be greater. On the other hand if you live in a less expensive rural area the minimum can be lower…
I'll start with some basic info: I work in IT, I took a job I was over qualified for due to the hiring manager saying I was going to be his assistant and get paid more because of it. The first year everything was fine. There was a lady that worked on the team and was not very tech savvy, it took her forever to do basic tasks because she only knew how to do things manually. She instantly felt threatened when I was hired. I was automating these simple tasks so we could focus on bigger problems. She would constantly complain to the director about me etc… Around 4 months ago, the company “restructured” a new director was brought in and she knew him. She immediately talked her way in to becoming our new manager. Ever since then she has been foaming at the mouth to get me fired.…
My husband is a tech guy in a really hot field right now. He hasn’t gotten a raise or promotion in 4 years despite taking on a ton more responsibility. He has had his eye on a position 2 management levels up and he’s been working towards it, knowing that the guy who had it was thinking about leaving. Well the guy left. And they killed the position. Instead they gave my husband and one other coworker the title of [position name] steering committee. No. No extra money. They presented it to him like it was a huge step up. He accepted it but I could tell he was heartbroken. I told him he had to leave, he can literally double his money anywhere else, but he says he’s passionate about the work, likes his coworkers, and doesn’t want to start all over, which I totally get. Idk where to…
Negotiating a raise
Hi everyone! First time posting in this subreddit but I could really use some help. I work at a corporate owned vet office as a receptionist. I have been here for 3 years and i have worked through our hospital going from 24 hour clinic to a genera practice and the constant turnover of doctors and staff. I have been loyal and hardworking ever since. I started my job making $10/hr in 2018 and the company continues to move their minimum wage up. At one point our hospital was having such bad turnover that they brought HR in to discuss what was going on and everyone complained about pay. They raised everyone’s wage up 2-3 dollars and I was put at $13/hr back in July of 2021. So now, our company has raised its minimum wage up to $13/hr and I got an email stating they would “feather up” my…
Team player
Being a team player only benefits the MANAGER. And to those who think they will be promoted because they're a team, good luck with that thought. If you are not well liked, you aren't going anywhere.
I’m so miserable at work. I wake up and cry every day, literally I cry. I have 10 alarms set to make me get out of bed. I’ve stopped wearing makeup/dressing nice for my role. I’ve burnt through all of my personal time but have been granted two FMLA day a month to use when ever and I’m always using them. I avoid my work despite meeting numbers because I no longer want to go above and beyond. I just want to do the bare minimum. I get no satisfaction from my job anymore. The insurance is nice and allows me to get therapy and I’ve had FMLA approved for a while now which is nice. The pay sucks though for what I do. I’m a banker and I make just barely 15 an hour. I want to leave but I have no college degree. I’m scared to leave because…
Meeting during lunch made us clock out.
