The owner of the company don’t even know my name. We all work in the building, less than 20 of us and this person hasn’t even bothered to learn my name or spoken 2 words to me. And companies wonder why people don’t stick around
Hey all, I'm 24(M). I recently quit my corporate job because it was taking a huge toll on my mental health and my personal life, and I don't regret the decision at all. It was a video production job in the video game industry, something people would totally kill for, but like any “dream job” it just makes you resent it more and more each day and I was being treated like garbage with shit pay for my area. So now I find myself at a crossroad. I don't want to do video production anymore, I burnt myself out on that one, and I realize if I keep jumping from job to job this cycle will never end and I'll forever be miserable doing what I supposedly “love” without any further advancement in my own life. Right now I have 43k in savings and 4k in my checking account so…
where does this ideology come from…
So where does this shit come from that since I make $9 an hr and my GM makes probably 75k yearly and his shift leads make probably $14 to $15hr I'm SUPPOSED to do MORE to prove myself or work harder than said GM. MY IDEOLOGY is you get paid more to run around this store not me!! I got hired to deliver a pizza not answer your phones and make and cut the pizza…… where does this shit come from….. is it supposedly cause he put the time in he gets to work less hard than me…. I'm super like intrigued by this idea cause I'm not doing the shit for $9hr. Pretty much wants me to run the show cause I can and wants me to do it at $9hr lol… Feel free to chime in….. I'm in the bathroom for my $9hr 🤷️
Applied for a new position kind of just out of curiosity to see what was out there. They called back and said I wasn’t selected but they had other positions I might be a good fit for and asked if I would like to meet with the hiring manager to discuss my goals. That went well, panel interview with my future coworkers the next week and an offer the same day. More companies need to be this way! Talked to my current manager about this years performance review, no promotion until next year even though I am at the top of the list for high performers in my group. There’s about to be a big shakeup in management and I think he has my best interests in mind but I’ve seen the company hold back people so im taking the plunge to move my whole life to a new state.…
Long post… be patient. Its worth it. September of 2019 is when I am laid off by a former boss who was ousting people in order to hire her friends (and start an embezzling scheme as I later found out). At the time I did not really need the 2nd income as my wife has a great job and we took the opportunity to do some home renovations. Well in March 2020, I had the foresight to know that the Covid hysteria was going to come soon so I landed a role as a controller for a modest Property Management company here in Ohio. It was a lower paying controller role, but I knew this was the next step in my career and it would benefit me in the long run to have “Controller” on my resume… so I took the gig. Fast forward to June of 2021 when we…
They've pushed the impovrished into submission through low wages and threat of authoritarian violence if we revolt. I don't want to see society collapse because i haven't even got to finish my transition from M t F meanwhile big data and big data disguised as the lower class are telling me to be Male Corporations matter more than people. Respect the rich and powerful above all costs what else is there?
How Hot Topic fucked me over
TL:DR included I used to love Hot Topic but they are such a shitty employer that I feel like people need to hear this. So let me start at February 2020: I got hired at Hot Topic and made minimum wage. Whatever. It was a job. For the first few weeks, I worked. But as the weeks went on, I started getting fewer and fewer shifts. There was even a week where I wasn’t scheduled at all. The managers told me that hours depend on how much money the store is making. Then COVID happened and I got furloughed. Cut to July 2020: Hot Topic opened back up. Scarce hours still but I eventually ended up getting to work one day, four hours a week. Still shitty, but whatever. Then August 2020: My gf at the time’s birthday was the same day as a shift of mine. She was very…
