anonymous salary survey
we got an email that everyone is invited to complete and submit a survey on our salary. the word “anonymous” makes me laugh. I tried entering that website link at home and it didn't work, so obviously we have to do it through our work computer which is connected to the intranet. all work computer logins are logged, so don't try to say it's anonymous.
This story encompasses everything wrong with modern buisness’. My wife is currently on maternity leave, and is due back in work late August. This is our first child, and the thought of going back to work full time is playing on my wife’s mind very heavily. It’s not just that the cost of full time child care is so high, meaning that more than half of her pay check would go towards it; it’s the idea that she would only get to see her 9 month old daughter for 2-3 hours a day that is really difficult. Now, my wife’s company claims to be ‘all about family’, but when she has discussed her concerns and mental unrest at this grim prospect, and even offered several work-arounds like part-time hours or WFH so that she can still spend time with her first born child, her company has made it painfully clear…
Hey everyone. Been struggling with this the last couple days and thought I might ask for some advice while waiting for my therapy appointment. I tried to trim it but it’s still lengthy. Really sorry. I’m 23 years old and graduated university last year. Took a bit of a break before applying to jobs because I worked hard in uni. Earlier this week I started my first part-time job. $12/hr, 8-4, three days a week, at the animal shelter I’ve been volunteering at for four years. I have literally been there three days, and the adjustment is much harder than expected. Something about work is triggering my anxiety big time. I don’t know if getting up early is making me nauseous (not enough sleep or interrupted sleep tends to do this on my current meds), or if it’s plain anxiety, but it’s killing my appetite. I’m taking an anti-emetic before…
About my schedule…
So I recently began work as a Ground Operations Agent (or Ramp Agent) at the airport, for a company called Trego-Dugan Aviation. I am a Part-time employee, I work 3rd shift (night shift) which is 9pm to 2am. However, due to the arrival times of some planes, I often don't get to clock out until much later, on a busy night, 4 or 5am is not uncommon. I was wondering if this violates some kind of law?
7/11 filmed me without my consent
I work for Speedway, a gas station that was recently bought out by 7/11. I've been there for almost 4 years. I'm a lead. I have worked every goddamn shift. Night shift, opening shift, closing shift, fucking opening shift after closing shift on only 2 hours of sleep, doubles, come in on days off. I've volunteered for all of this and done it willingly, because I was relatively okay with Speedway's management. After this 7/11 takeover, I've been getting increasingly more fed up. After this, I'm downright enraged. 7/11 has begun doing these “stings.” Not to make sure employees are following laws, nothing so important. To make sure our “customer service” is up to their exacting standards, at minimum wage. I had been working a Saturday night 9 hour closing shift. Completely alone. The entire fucking 9 hours. Single-handedly running our very busy store with no break. It was 7…
