I was born in this country and used to be proud to be American, sorry to say that’s no longer true. The US is not a country anymore is a corporation, everything done for profit to suck the money out of our pockets. Work life balance is a joke, we work too hard and don’t receive hardly anything back for it. Not to mention healthcare, and everything else wrong with this country. I’ve been wanting to leave for a couple years and toying with the idea, but now I don’t see myself living here. I’m not sure even where to begin or where I could go as an expat. Has anyone left the US and gone to a different country? Is the grass really greener on the other side?
Guilt tripped for calling in sick
I Called in sick (with covid) this morning. Was asked if I'm well enough to still work from home. I said no, I'm really poorly. He then snaps at me saying that I was off sick not long ago and it's not fair on the class or the year group lead who has to take over and how he's had some complaints from parents. I told him look, I don't plan to get sick. Then he tells me to call and update him. This happens every time I call sick “Will you be in tomorrow? It's not fair on your class It's hard finding supply teachers”
F*** the “Hustle Culture”.

Float days rights…
I work in the animation industry in Canada. I had an offer for a job in another studio, and told HR 3 weeks+ before my leave. Checked my hours bank and realized I had 3 “float days” available, so I booked my last 3 days off. Got them approved by production, but than later HR told me I didn't have the right for it because it was supposed to be used as a rest from the projects, so she couldn't allow me to take them before a job change. I could just agree and go on, but I decided to ask for the Union's help. They sent HR an email explaining that they could not take out approved days off, as was written in the collective agreement. Today I got the news that the Union prevailed, and my days off are MINE! I know it's not that much of a…
