Normal IT engineer here, I do the needful. Take requests from a number of different VPs, create some project plans, perform the work. I have no one else underneath me, so usually it is up to me to do everything. Well, my boss (director of IT) has done very well for himself. He has equity in the company and recently we were bought for billions of dollars. He would retire but he spends too much on lavish vacations and expensive wine… Normally I get a pretty large annual bonus when the company does well, but it brings my below market salary to respectable ranges. I’m pretty upset right now. I’m the head chef at a sorority house and the house mother almost never talks to me unless she’s complaining about some mundane thing (why don’t we have name brand peanut butter). She always text me. I’m at the house for 10 hours a day 4 days a week and 5 hours Friday. I don’t really leave unless we need something from Walmart. This evening, I had just walked into my home after a 10 hour shift and a very slow dinner, and I get a text about a menu for fall. I’m an hourly employee, so I’m clocked out and finished for the day. If the text could wait until I got home the answer can wait until I clock in tomorrow

It literally makes no sense

Like seriously, what is even the point of uploading a resume if the online app is going to make spend hours filling in the EXACT same info anyways? Like why even ask me to upload a resume? Especially when they never call you or give you so much as an email to see if anyone even looked at it. Honestly it makes you lazy and anti social as an employer when you walk in all dressed up with resume in hand only to be hit with “we wont even consider/ see you unless you go online.” At least when I hand them a resume in person I can see who they are and I KNOW they at least glanced at the first page. Now I just ask the employer upfront “If I go online and fill it out, will I get a call?” and if they give me any sort…

This is especially true with my previous employer. Managers are always adding workload to employees. And when people leave, they put the work on other people. What keeps happening is high turnaround because people cannot take it anymore, and they are able to find better jobs because of the additional work experience they inherited. And when they leave, things get worse because the loss is even bigger. This happened to me so many times, so I've picked up so many things outside of my work, and eventually was able to find a better job that doubles the pay. Many interviewers were surprised by the amount of things I was able to accomplish and quite frankly, I was a little surprised too. My wife, my cousin, my high school friend, and me all got new jobs with better pay and less stress in the past few months. So when I see…
