I put in my two weeks notice and have only ever worked remotely. My employer was happy I was staying on to help train my replacement, but are demanding I commute into the office (at least an hour each way) because they “don’t have enough computers” and I’ll need to share with the new hire, thus making us unable to work remotely.
I started a new job as a customer service representative in May of 2020 right after graduation. I was super excited because a friend of mine had been there for a few years and she loved it. She had been promoted a few times and had great leadership. It was the worst job I’ve ever had in my life. It was when the stock market was insanely unpredictable and people were calling in all the time. I was told there would be chances for training and I would be able to meet with my manager to talk about advancement opportunities. That never happened. And the callers were mean. I cried all the time because the callers were blaming us for their investments losing money. They would call me stupid and yell at me for the wait times. Some of the old men would hit on me. The company would never…

One of the qualities I admire about my ex is he didn't put up with shit when he felt like he was being taken advantage of. One day a few years ago he came home and told me about the staff meeting his company had held that day. The managers had passed around a picture of a worker bending over while the management kicked them in the rear. They were trying to make some point, in the most condescending way possible, about how the staff needed to work harder. My ex immediately stood up, crumpled said paper, and tossed it in the trash, making it clear he was disgusted by it. Totally changed the tone of the meeting. At the time I was horrified by his open outrage toward his superiors. Now I'm pretty sure I would do the same thing.
In 1964 minimum wage was $1.25. The last year the govt minted 90% silver coins was 1964. In that year 5 silver quarters equaled 1 oz of silver or about $1.25 … What are five 1964 silver quarters worth today? About $24.00 Minimum wage should be at least $24 if kept up with inflation. edit: silver quarter value at https://www.coinflation.com/coins/1932-1964-Silver-Washington-Quarter-Value.html
Don’t put in half the effort. Make them realize what they saw in the beginning of the pandemic, that employees are capable of getting work done from home.

Two different hourly rates.
Has anyone ever run across being paid two different hourly rates? The job I’m about to start pays me at the rate I negotiated for while doing direct work with a client, but pays four dollars an hour less for indirect work (travel, prep, training). I’m just having a hard time wrapping my head around my time being worth four less dollars an hour depending on what function I’m preforming.
Throwaway account. I started working at a new bar in my city in November. I'm a full-time student and I have another job as a bar manager but I picked up this job as a supplemental income while my other job is slow this season. It was supposed to open in November when I was hired but after about 4 or 5 opening day pushbacks and two months of useless, repetitive training, it finally opened in January even though this place is very much still under construction. The bar has a ton of issues but the money was pretty good so I stuck with it and even got my partner a job working during the week (I worked on the weekends). Mind you we both have studies and primary jobs. I'll sum up some of the core issues of the place since listing them all would be a novel. The…
