Sorry for formatting, I dont have a computer so I'm on mobile. I was a server at this fine dining restaurant, $40-$60 a plate type of place. I was serving this morning and they told me I had to come back this afternoon to host. They pay $8 an hour for that. I told them there was no way in hell I would work for $8 an hour. I would have worked from 5 until maybe 9, so I would have made $32 BEFORE taxes. That's disrespectful to me and how valuable my time is. I stayed firm that I wouldnt work for $8 an hour so he fired me. My boss was genuinely shocked I said no, he told me “everyone does it.” I hope everyone else stands up for themselves and stops doing all of this extra shit for them soon. Last week they added watering of all…
What just happened?
I recently left a job where within the same week: 1) a male supervisor told a female colleague he wanted to choke her out and was excused for his behavior by a female supervisor because “that’s just the way he is”; 2) a colleague died of Covid after the supervisor exposed everyone in the office to it(we were only informed of the diagnosis by the cleaning lady who found his positive test in his office trash); and 3) the CEO called my city street department (where I live, not work) to complain that my street wasn’t plowed and my not being able to make it to work detrimental to the company during a winter storm. It’s batshit crazy. You’re not alone.

Can my employee sue me for walking out?
I am a manager of a national sports bar chain and lately the actions of my GM and regional manager have been so horrendous that it is causing me to leave. Not only do I want to leave, but my entire staff will be leaving with me because they too are fed up. What I want to do, to get back at my boss for his mistreatment of us is to walk out during my shift and all the servers, bartenders, and cooks will be leaving also. Friday nights are our busiest nights and currently my GM is on vacation in a different state. My question is, if I (as the only manager on duty) were to just leave during the middle of my shift, and take all the staff with me, would this company be able to sue me for the loss of revenue they would have due to…

Cap CEO Pay
I think we as a people need to push for highest paid personnel within companies to have their pay capped as a ratio to the lowest earner (including contract workers). I am getting quite tired of hearing CEOs and other executives receiving millions in yearly compensation at extremely high hourly rates, while low level employees are paid near minimum wage which leads to some companies having employees that rely on food stamps to work for them. I honestly don't understand how this was ever allowed to become a thing, how can a company force the government to pay employees to work for the company… blows my mind Anyways I am proposing a limit lets say 500x the lowest paid employee (ikr I'm being nice to the highest paid personnel , but this will actually dramatically reduce current CEO pay(&other high paid positions) (as costs rise for the labor that actually…
