hey fellow anti-workers! first time posting here! i work at a very small library in a seemingly liberal Southern city. however, no matter how liberal this city is, the libraries here are not seen as a public service at all. i was not told this before accepting the job, in fact my interviewers made it seem as if our libraries are a staple to the community. today an admin wide email was sent out to all library staff informing us about the meeting that happened yesterday between all branch managers and our head manager which included a Questions and Answer portion. the first part of the questions were about hiring more part time staff since we are all so overworked and burned out (they were told interviews will resume eventually, i was told by a co-worker that has been here much longer than me interviews stopped because our HR liaison…

Grocery store let me steal groceries
I didn't plan on it but these new self scan machines just aren't scanning everything, and I don't mind paying but I'm not gonna self police if nobody cares. Brought 5 items or less to self checkout and the scanner wouldnt scan so I payed for half and got a healthy discount, I tried very hard to actually scan multiple times but it didn't work… Then the machine said it will get someone, so I started paying and left before anyone could come to monitor or talk to me.. turns out there was already someone there and they didn't care at all so I smiled and left
Im working a shitty custodian job at my local highschool. I graduated 10 years ago, but everyone there still thinks I'm a student. It really goes to show how badly they treat their students, with the amount of disrespect that goes my way. Anyway, I'm cleaning a bathroom when a manager shows up to take me to the principal. I immediately start thinking of reasons of why the principal would randomly want to talk to me, but I didn't guess that the vape detector had gone off in the bathroom I was cleaning. The principal was visibly shaking with anger. I told him I know of the detector, but I don't know why it went off. I was busy cleaning. No vape on my person. So he says if I don't empty my pockets I would be fired. Again I didn't have a vape, but I still said no. Unfortunately…
I have my own company. I was never considered a bad boss, or harassed any of my employed but the because of a failed economy, things were fucked up lately. I managed to recover after some years, but the workspace was getting more depressed due to the nature of our work and deadlines. I wanted to get better . Since i'm in this group my employees are no longer just “human capital”, and i treat them as they should. Hired better people for HR, more employees, More pay and better mood (from every side) made the working environment a great place, and actually made better profits. I make some jokes here and there, but I'm a serious guy when working. I have this guy that i want to promote, and he's is a great prankster, and made me laugh several times. He's not only funny, but a great person and…
I used to work at this small local store in my senior year of high school. I would work 9hr shifts with no break, no lunch, sometimes a broken toilet so no bathroom. My boss and 40+ year old coworkers would talk shit about 16 year old me. She would intentionally talk down to me when I asked for clarification on anything. I’d sometimes get so hungry and overheated that I’d get dizzy. I’d work crack of dawn hours (3:30 am) into 2 in the afternoon. Recently I started a new job at a larger chain supermarket and the change is ASTRONOMICAL. I realize it’s quite literally the bare minimum, but having a break and a lunch and not working excruciatingly long hours is such a relief. I practically get paid an hour extra to just sit there. I get to use the bathroom whenever nature calls, I don’t have…
I just gotta fucking vent, this isn’t even political or anything. I worked at a SMALL company of 5 people, 3 employees and two co-owners. It was great, we all just acted like buddies, the energy was great, I legitimately loved my job. Well, we merged with one of our competitors who specializes in a slightly different area. Within a week they: Killed my employee discount. I used to get 50% off, now I get 10% off what I do for a living. Quadrupled my work load — note, they didn’t give me MORE work, rather just added hair-pulling bureaucracy to every step of my job that I was accomplishing perfectly well. None of the tools work. They replaced all our old stuff with their “standardized tools” and they’re just garbage. It’s all Bluetooth stuff that I’m pretty sure cost like $.99 from China. Constantly disconnecting and just spending 30m…
