Fast Eddie's, Chico, Ca Not even kidding, when i worked there we got to keep the dollar bills but we weren't allowed to change the coins in for dollar bills or split them because the owners (husband and wife) took the change and put it in their kids college fund.
Quitting is the best self-care
The mental health provider I worked for actively encourages employees to use “self-care”, such as days off, working remote if able, or speaking with your supervisor. I recently communicated instances of retaliation when I would request a day off to take care of my mental health and along with some client safety concerns, it was ignored. My supervisor refused to speak with me after this and let client safety concerns go unchecked. When I attempted to speak with them to address these issues, my supervisor yelled at me for attempting to speak with them. I told them I quit, and then I placed the organization's laptop on their desk. The supervisor then accused me of “Throwing the laptop”. (I didn't, I just quit and wanted to leave) They then proceeded to imply that I was being violent, refused to let me gather the rest of my belongings from my space…
Disgraceful.
I just started a job at a small local business in my town. There were a few red flags to begin with. The guy who owned our company demanded we refer to him exclusively as ‘Mr Surname’ and not by his first name which to me screams superiority complex. Staff had little to no benefits and no incentive to stay with the company. All the other staff that worked there had been there 15+ years so they were just used to it but holy shit good luck hiring anyone new. Management consistently ignores feedback from team members and customers alike. Today was the final straw when I found out my manager had been viewing us on CCTV on their personal phone. Not only during work hours but on their days off when sat at home… Total crazy behaviour. How these people expect to keep staff is beyond me. Now I’ve…
Became disposable in 6 months
I was hired on for a job. The owner loved me. We were even becoming friends. She told me she was expanding and wanted me to be manager after some training. 6 months in she sacked me out of the blue. I asked the reason and she told me…. “you dialed a wrong number when returning a client call once…” okay? 1. that wasn't even true, she was confused about the situation. 2. even if I did? That would be an honest mistake that happened once. 3. She never mentioned it before. And now I'm fired over it?! 6 months manager to fired. Over a phone call. I will also mention the manager job only paid minimum wage. I'm so sick of this shit. And people wonder why there is a labour shortage?! Edit: she also tried to with hold my t4 tax slip from me? Refused to mail it…
I told them I would be going to lunch at 1 pm and at 12:30 she brings me a project that I’ve never done, never been trained on or have done myself. She gave me attitude when I asked for help, she said “Do you need me to hold your hand or can you handle it?” I assume she only said this so she can go eat her lunch. Mind you she also lied and said she had a meeting to go to but I saw her get in her vehicle and leave. I went directly to HR and notified them of my resignation effective immediately. I will not deal with disrespect and absurd demands from crappy management. The project involved several thousand dollars of product that would be rendered useless if not completed in time, hopefully they got it done because I sure didn’t.
Thank you to all extroverted employees
If it weren't for you, we introverted and no-bullshit employees would be forced to be in company videos dancing and making cute poses. I wrote this after the new hires at the company we joined showed us 15+ videos of employees dancing and posing to the beat before starting the orientation. I will never be a person who dances in front of a camera, even if I wanted to. Thank you.
