Took a job as a breakfast cook in an upscale restaurant a while back. Early mornings, lots of Eggs Benedict, douchey chefs and snotty costumers. Pretty standard restaurant awfulness. On my first day I became aware that the two other cooks on the line were part of a prison work program where they would work six days a week at the restaurant and would have to report back to their housing complex about four blocks away immediately after their shift ended. It turns out that about a third of the staff at the restaurant and much of the hotel staff are there through this program making pennies on the dollar. My job is security detail for luxury retail, I wont say what company but they are known for leather goods. I have a diploma, many security certifications and medical training, driving executive protection and firearms qualifications and my entire team would say Im overqualified for the job. I make roughly 1500 USD a week gross, the government steals about 500 of this. and inflation and cost of supporting my self eats up the rest. I applied for a job and they were offering a decent amount for the skill set I have. I got the job and was put on a casual salary until I acquired a specific licence needed to work on my own. The week I acquired the licence, I let them know that it was time to re-evaluate my agreement. They came at me with an offer 30% less than advertised and got upset when I grabbed my shit and walked out. At least try to come close to the offer.

I work at a real estate company. My job primarily revolves around selling/renting out the company's owned properties to clients. They currently have around 6, with a new one on the way. That being said, I live in an archipelago type country. It means, in order to get to another city, we must either travel using the bridge if you have your own vehicle (which i dont) or by a ferry boat. One of the properties is on a city away that doesnt have a bridge connected to it; only way to get their is by taking the ferry. Its a tedious task waiting in the queue to buy your ticket and again waiting for several minutes for the ferry to come. This coming from the Dean of the faculty I work in. Now in certain situations I would agree that it is possible for someone to have more work to do than others. But to use this as a blanket statement whenever someone brings up the insane workload or is unable to attend an online meeting relevant to only 8-10 out of 25 staff while some are having classes or are on their lunch break, just drives me up the wall.
