I just came across a recent article in one of Germany’s biggest and most important business magazines Wirtschaftswoche (translated it would be: economic week)and wanted to share with you! It’s headline translation is this: Change job? Yes please! The Great Resignation reaches Germany! It states German people are even more willing to change jobs than Americans. And apparently this is something outstanding. So to everyone following this movement: it works! Not only in the US. Changes are possible. Keep it up!
I have a lot of coworkers out and in result my manager keeps asking only me to cover 5-3. I am the youngest one in my department so I’m assuming they’re assuming i can do it and handle it. My other coworker is 20 years my senior and was not asked to come in earlier or stay later and neither was the per diem that is scheduled. Is this fair? I have a lot of health issues going on that totally get exacerbated when I work more than 9 hours. I told my manager I’m available to do a 5-2 but she doesn’t seem pleased about that.
update to my pay complaint
I recently posted about my pushback at work against the paltry raise I got. You can find it in my post history, but basically I complained that raises never even match inflation so I'm doing more work for less money while the company pours billions into buybacks for shareholders. HR stumbled over their words about how the company doesn't look at inflation when determining raises. I finally got a second conversation about it. Basically I was told the company struggles to keep up with cost of living changes, and does it gradually, and they were keen to point out the company doesn't reduce wages when cost of living goes down. I held my tongue because I'm leaving, but I wanted to ask them if they could tell me how many times CoL has gone down in the past decade? The answer is once, very briefly in 2015, there was a…
Fired for wanting rain gear
Title pretty much sums it up. I worked for a small landscaping company, and in April we get a lot of rain where I live. I was asked to work in the rain and simply asked if rain gear would be provided. I was told no so I sucked it up and got soaked despite my request for a simple poncho or something. My commute isn’t short. I live about 40 minutes away from where we all meet before heading out to job sites. This morning was just like any other day. Except the owner was waiting for me and told me this would be my last day. When I asked why he said it was because we have “different approaches” whatever the fuck that means lol. They could just not like my work style but I doubt that is the reason. The only waves I ever made was due…
I took a day for once
I do service work in the trades, I'm the lead of the company I work for and I genuinely enjoy my work. I fix broken shit for people and 9.8/10 times those people are very happy to have someone like me taking care of them. Anyhow…I've had cold/flu symptoms for the past few days, yesterday I went to work sick af because a fairly important job had been scheduled for over a week ago and I was the only person in the company to be trusted with completing the job. So with the help of a newer guy we got the job done and all is well. I took medicine and got through the day feeling like shit. Today I woke up feeling like shit but not as bad as yesterday, I chose to say fuck it and called in sick to work. There was nothing super important on my…
