Or perhaps to pay the legislators Bezos owns in the U.S Congress and in various states to invalidate the 13th and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution so he could buy his workers (and their families, and their descendants) outright? /snarkasm
Working off the clock
So the company I work for just rolled out a policy that will force my employees to work off the clock and not be paid for it. I live in Ohio and thought “oh Christ that can’t be right. Better call the depart of labor to make sure my people are being paid.” Contacted the department of labor and was told basically these people aren’t gonna get paid for that time. If the unpaid time would take their actual wages down to less than minimum wage THEN the depart of labor can help, otherwise this is a lawful practice. As an example, employee is paid 13/hr, they work 20 hours on the clock and 2 hours off. Their check is 260. So if we spread that out across 22 hours, which is what they actually worked, they make 11.81, which is more than minimum so they will be unpaid for…
I worked in stupid bitch ass Amazon for 5 years and then dumb ass Penske for a year and a half. Both these jobs sucked major ass. Just never ending increased workload from both. It’s never enough. I would get sick every 3 months or less from something. My skin looked like shit. My face looked more aged. Hair falling out. My immune system always seemed low. Now I rarely get sick, my skin looks better. My hair doesn’t fall out as much. I am looking around for jobs, but I don’t want to keep going threw this, but it seems inevitable. I guess at the first sign of bull shit, I can just quit. I’ve had many jobs and can see when it’s just going to keep going down hill. Maybe take a different approach to things. I used to work hard and now I guess I’ll be like…
Reporting from Bloomberg: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-04-07/labor-shortage-forces-indiana-businesses-to-get-creative?srnd=premium With a median household income of $98,880, it rates as one of the most affluent counties in the country. Residents of Carmel brag about their excellent public schools, walkable neighborhoods, and exciting new restaurants. So right away, this is a group of people who get paid very well themselves, but when it comes to paying others, they seem to take issue with that. Seems like these business owners don't want to pay what it takes to live where they are offering work. Down the road at Metro Plastics… is struggling to fill four vacancies on the overnight shift. The company raised its starting wage from $10 an hour last year to $15 an hour. But temp agencies tell Krol she’ll need to offer at least $17 an hour to get anyone to bite. For reference, the MIT living wage calculator shows a bare living wage in Hamilton…
I Was a Hostess at Burger King
It may have been a ploy for real life exercise to demonstrate, but I truly think that was the question full stop.
