Job is trying to change my description
Hi all. Something just happened to me at work and I need advice. I work in IT at a construction company in Illinois. I was hired as a hybrid-employee whom would be in the office full-time for training. I just had my quarterly check-in and I was informed that my position would now be required to be in the office full-time. My manager knew I would be pissed as we had talked before, at length, about getting me to be full-time remote like she is. Apparently, this change was decided upon late last week and and went into effect today. I want to walk out but I can’t as I don’t have another job lined up and a family to feed. My boss is giving me a day to “decompress” (which doesn’t mean I get work off, it just means no meetings bc she wants me to calm down so…
That’s $3,500 every two weeks and $7,000 every month if she works 5 days a week (and has the clients to do so). Im also assuming most of this is tax free: If the maid was to work 8 hours a day that would be double. Not bad for having your own business not working for a boss. Edit: this is in the San Francisco area where price of living is insane.

Lowes won’t let me request days off…
Currently at work and I had to go on a quick rant. For the past week I have been trying to request my birthday off from may 26-may30th. I have a trip planned to Los Angeles, I already have everything booked since janurary of this year, before I even started working here.(Lowes) So every time I have tried to request it off, it wouldn’t allow me to do it because it’s during a “blackout” period. I didn’t know what that meant I thought it meant maybe it’s too early to request those days, but we are already in April so being too early to request shouldn’t be the problem, so I asked the manager who makes the schedules and she told me that because of Memorial Day which is on MAY 30th I cannot request may 27-29 because of MEMORIAL DAY. So that is what a blackout period is…you can’t…
I spend so much time setting up interviews, preparing for interviews, and carving out time from my full-time job. It is not uncommon to spend 4+ hours exclusively in meetings with HR, hiring managers, and potential team members during this process. In most cases, I'm having to take my PTO or make up time on the back end. I understand not getting a response from anyone if you didn't get to the 1st interview stage. Heck, most of the time I receive at least an automated rejection email even then. But what really bothers me is that after you've invested so much time into the interview process and HR cannot even offer up a brief message notifying you of the decision. I get that we're all leading very busy, hectic professional lives. That's even more reason to treat your candidates better than this. They are sacrificing so much of their…
I started working for a Financial Advisor for a popular financial planning company on January 10th. I am currently an “assistant” for this person. I took this role because in our discussions during interviews he informed me that this would be the stepping stone into becoming an FA (Financial Advisor) that I’ve been looking for. He said I wouldn’t have to make any cold calls, that my job would be to assist him in other ways of growing his business and in about a year/year-and-a-half I could then contend for the FA training program. The first month was a lot of training and doing tasks here and there but mostly learning the ropes of the business. Month 2 is when I started to realize who this guy really is. By this time it was clear that he wanted me to be a cold call machine. I would make hundreds of…
I wanna be mad….But it's $15/hr remote job setting appointments for a hotel, plus overtime pay past 6pm and $50 towards my internet bill. Does anybody have advice? I need the money bad, so if I can get the job I will have to take it, but is there anything to look out for? Warning signs / Red flags to watch out for? I haven't ever worked remotely besides freelance before.
i told two people and they said i was overreacting and he was just trying to get a rise out of me. am i wrong to be bothered by this “joke”?? he has “edgy” humor and is a known drunk like a few days ago called someone who had quit drinking a loser. im sure (i hope) he really was just joking but i dont feel like it’s appropriate especially to be like “you know what i mean? i just want to experience it see what its like thats my goal someday”
