When I see clickbait-y nonsense on a listicle or Buzzfeed-esque social media share-driven platform or snap story, I’m torn. On the one hand, I am grateful enough I suppose to see the sentiment being given a platform, thus exposing more of the general public to the discourse and potentially growing membership of the discontent. On the other hand, fuck aggregate posters for exploiting the pain and growth of our members for ad revenue (solidarity with underpaid freelance writers pulling jobs off a board – they’re victims , too) But like, over exposure will cheapen the measure and attention and potentially turn a movement into a retired flavor of the week. I’m frustrated that I can’t reconcile those thoughts into a coherent feeling, and any discussion/interpretation would be appreciated.
Not sure if this is the place to ask but when I was laid off over the winter due to my job being seasonal I applied like a mad man to a bunch of different jobs with the expectation that I’m looking for year round work. I got a call back from a pretty decent year round railway job but one of the requirements was I had to do a drug test. I quit smoking marijuana a month and a half prior to the test but I guess it wasn’t long enough and I tested positive and my job offer was rejected. Fast forward to present day and I’m currently 3 and a half months without smoking and I’m passing at home tests. The company is still hiring for the position. How long do they save my info for and if I were to change my resume around like use…
Currently work from home and the company I work for is making us go back into the office. Anyone have any suggestions – that don’t involve talking to management because I’ve done this and it has got me nowhere – to continually work from home? We’ve worked from home for the past 2 years without problem, and they’re going to be having us return part time (one week in, one week at home), which honestly isn’t fair considering people who have their weeks in office scheduled on weeks that have holidays, don’t have to spend as much money on travel. It will cause me undue financial burden to return to office since they cut our overtime, cost of living increases, and a measly 3%, >$.75/hr “raise.” My mortgage increased $100/month. My bills all increased by ~$10-$30 despite not making any changes to how I use my water, trash, or electricity.…
I'd like to talk about the shit stain of a company called Sofology, I was working there at a depot that I wouldn't like to mention specifically but what I will say is it was a very important depot for the country, I was there for about 7 months employed under an agency with the possibility of a contract at the end of it, now as I'm sure most of you are aware agency's are usually a complete fuck up but in this case the one I was with at the time wasn't the problem, it was Sofology itself. Upon start at the job literally fuck all training was given out and we was dropped straight in the deep end which understandably caused problems with customers orders getting sent to the wrong depots and quite often going “missing”. Now keep in mind people are paying thousands of pounds for these…
My boss is demanding and will occasionally throw me under the bus or blame me for things that they overlooked. I thought it was fine, that I was their assistant and that's the way it goes sometimes. I thought I could tough it out. My job was mostly good, only occasionally bad! But it all blew up last week. My boss threw a temper tantrum like a child and stopped cc'ing me on emails after an issue that happened that wasn't my fault. After I realized this, I went to their office to talk about the issue asked them why I was off their emails. They told me they were too mad to talk to me and dismissed me. I later saw my GM and my boss in a closed door meeting with another higher ranking employee. I thought these actions pointed to me being fired or being dismissed from…
Not liking my current job
So I worked a job I loved for 2.5 years but I finally decided to leave because they just didn’t want to pay me enough for what I did. At the end of January I got a job working private security and it was alright but I didn’t love it. The money is slightly better but not by much. Mid February they lost their major contract and I got furloughed but now I’m back and things have gotten somewhat worse. Before I was making only slightly more money but I was closer to home. Now I’m having to drive significantly further and they want to pay me the same. Looking for a different job but I wanted to vent. I follow this sub ironically as a libertarian so I don’t always agree with posts and comments but I understand why so many are upset. Inflation being what it is companies…
