Over a month and a half ago, I had to call out sick because of a crazy stiff neck I had where I couldn't even move my head let alone do my job properly. I got the time off no problem, my job had actually been very good about letting me take time off when I'm sick and overall being pretty flexible with my time. However, I requested to use my sick pay for those hours I would be missing (I don't always do this, because sometimes I'm not genuinely sick and can afford to go without pay for a day and just need a day off). My manager said sure, no problem, I'll put that in! Fast forward, she forgot, and that pay was not in my paycheck. Another manager later helped me request the sick pay through our clock-in terminal, but by the next paycheck, I found out…
How do I go about unionizing ?
I’m the shop manager for a metal shop for a roofing company in the hill country of texas. I’ve been here 6 years. We went from doing jobs to maybe 5-6 contractors 6 years ago to now over 30, and I am not given the tools or space to be able to do my job safely and efficiently. The shop is entirely to small for the amount of flat sheets/ coils we do, and the yard is full of underlayment we have no space for. Trying to drive a forklift and move stuff is a nightmare. Every time I finally figure out how to handle the workload , they figure “oh we can hire more subs and do more jobs now” and just tell me “just do what you can” which has had me perpetually working 50-60 hours a week since the pandemic happened. I’m also expected to work in…

I’ll start off by saying I have a disability. I have a care team with over a dozen doctors. Every 3 months I need to do a full blood work-up to make sure I’m still in check. I started a new job in January of this year. When submitting my application I noted I had a disability. When filling out my onboarding paperwork I again noted I have a disability. Basically in the first 3 months of working I used all my sick time for the year because I ended up getting an infection due to being immunocompromised from the medication I take to manage my disability. Also note I am extremely cautious, always sanitizing my hands or washing them and still religiously wearing a mask whenever I go out. Long story short my mangers didn’t know I had a disability. It got escalated to HR, they requested a letter.…
I’m evil and I’m ok admitting it
I worked as a director for a company for four long, draining years. I did EVERYTHING for that place, I was told by my staff that I was always fair and they enjoyed working with me at my going away function. I left when I found out that I was earning 3/4 less than the other 3 directors who did nothing, and I fulfilled around 3 roles. Fast forward 3 years later and the place is a mess. New hires don’t last more than 6 months, their biggest client left, people in the industry keep complaining about them. While I’m not the sole reason for the success of the place, I didn’t treat my employees like pieces of garbage, and I believe that this is the new status quo since I’ve left. Shit got done and complaints got swiftly dealt with. Fuck bad managers and fuck fat cats sitting earning…
