My previous employer didn't send me my final check due to me only accruing 26 hours of PTO (Paid Time Off) and them approving and using all 120 hours for the year due to me getting sick for a few weeks this year. According to company policy “All overuse of PTO will be deducted from the employees final paycheck of the year if they haven't accrued enough to cover it.” I would have agreed to this policy as part of my onboarding, but according to the missing wage form my state has for its Department of Labor says that any and all non tax related deductions must be agreed upon by both parties, and i never agreed to use my PTO for my sick time. If i present this to a lawyer, would i have a case, especially with them refusing to accommodate my requests of not using PTO and…
Reflections on competence
I know it's been a while, but here's another poem from your favorite antiwork poet. More of my work can be found at www.instagram.com/flint.freeman and twitter.com/freeman_flint https://preview.redd.it/yl8ya1jqfxq81.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fd262fc3b3850f6c3b83de34a0265479094f5a5 https://preview.redd.it/32ksnz1qfxq81.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2dd03ca9a48b9353a2d01c8cfb6abb68b92d8c4f
I have a question and I'm not so sure if this fits here but In my job my boss (and other 2 I had) always wanted to eat with their team, like all together, daily and if you did not show up you actually weren't being part of team, they say that you are not someone reliable (I mean come on, it doesn't have anything to do with my team work and my responsibilities who I want to eat) may be it's something cultural, maybe it's something from here I really want to know, is this normal for you too?
This community has grown so much…
Can't believe how big this sun has gotten. I used to scroll through these pages maybe a year ago? Now it's over 1 million and jumping. I guess that says it all right?
I probably spent 4-6 hours in unpaid labor to be told I was second best. Literally, the company said if there was another position they would give it to me, but someone else was better. To top it all off, they offered me part-time freelance work when I had applied for their full-time job. I hate this system and just wanted to rant to people who get it.

It finally happened. I was laid off. The company I worked for went bankrupt & every single employee was let go that same day. No warnings or anything. I had been searching for a new job because at this one, I was overworked (due to layoffs in previous months) and underpaid (due to budget concerns), so I’m not that upset, although I do feel for everyone who needed the job to put food on their tables. It was a remote job so we were issued company laptops. I got a really nice 2 Terabyte, 16-in 2019 MacBook Pro. I edited for this company so they gave me a computer that could handle pretty heavy editing. The problem is, when the company went bankrupt / everyone was laid off, all of our company emails were shut off almost immediately. It’s been a while now, and nobody has contacted me (or my…
Nurse rant. Suggestions welcome.
Im a nurse (LVN with 8yrs in the game) and i work for a government funded community clinic system in a major US city (top 4). Ive been working here since 2018 but took a 6 month break (9/20-3/21)due to burnout from COVID, working short staffed (i was the only nurse in a large clinic for a while), and also training other staff members. Recently the company gave bonuses to employees that have been with the company for 1 year +. (Bonuses were promised to be ‘at least 1000$’ but actually ended up being around 600$ for some as taxes were deducted) I received a total bonus of 0$. When i asked HR and my manager why i didn’t receive it they said it was because i ‘didn’t meet the criteria because i had a gap in service’. I also mentioned that EVERYONE that worked should be receiving bonuses as…
