back in february i accepted a new part time wfh position that would eventually turn full time. i gave my notice to my job but offered to stay as a “contracter” and only come in 3 days a week. they agreed to this, but have yet to pay me the PTO they owe me from being a full time employee. it’s been over a month since i switched to contract work and they have not hired my replacement. as my wfh job comes with more responsibilities, i find my time at this physical fucking office less and less important as i sit here filing papers from two years ago. last week i was helping a family member out dog sitting and my office job gave me a hard time about missing days and essentially forced me to come in today (a wednesday, not a day i work in the office)…
People need to remember this
I saw think on linkin and everyone should know this Dr Rochelle Parks-Yancy Professor of Human Resources; Resume Writer-Slayer; Career Coach; Books' Author; Workshop Leader; Website Content Creator/Editor; I Am MY #1 Brand 3h Product/service brand loyalty: Customers are loyal to a brand and actively want to buy their products. Think Apple diehards vs. Samsung diehards. Or Pepsi loyalists vs. Coke loyalists. Employment brand loyalty: Old school, short-sighted, and a myth. There is no good reason to give your loyalty to any company that you don't own. Even if you like your job, if you like the people with whom you work, that doesn't equate to loyalty (or it shouldn't) to the job nor employer. Firms are not loyal to you. That's not their job. Their job is to be loyal to their business interests. Your job is be loyal to your business interests (YOU). A job is not a…
As the title says, I'm going to a job fair. I'm sure it's going to be a lot of local big name factories/warehouses, but just want some ideas on how to pressure these people to sell me a job.
Hei everybody Just need to get this off my chest. I (23F) have been working for this luxury German airline for almost an year now and it's hell. We're overworked, underpaid and micromanaged like crazy. I know that it takes hours for customers to reach the service center, I'm working in the emails department and rn I'm replying to emails that were sent 7-8 months ago and in the end customers direct their anger and frustration towards us. Also, this is a (multi billion €) company that mostly employs people from countries with cheap workforce and good language skills like Eastern European countries, India and others and they pay half the minimum wage in Germany. They cut your bonus for shit like having 2 spaces instead of one between the salutation and the rest of the email. They don't allow you to protect your identity anymore, they are forcing us…
Basically the title. Also, I'm on mobile so sorry for the wall of text. I work with kids and most of the time I can just shrug hard days away and come back the next day fine. But I had probably the roughest day yesterday since working there. So I called about taking a mental health day. Got told we don't excuse people for mental health days, we need to be at work for the kids, and that thats what the weekends are for. I'm sorry but I've been there for the kids everyday since working there besides when I was out because of having COVID and a bad stomach flu. One of my other coworkers was recently put into a position with more responsibility than she had previously and understandably she's been taking a day off every week. I wish more jobs recognized needing a mental health day, I…
“Experience”
I’m really annoyed with jobs that hem and haw about your “experience”. I’m sick of jobs that hold a promotion over your head because “you don’t have enough experience”. It’s just another way to not give you more money.
https://twitter.com/Imposter_Edits/status/1508793869831446528 Disgusting that they would not only waste tax dollars, but violate people's freedoms for what? To help enrich companies like Uber?
How could this have been legal?
I worked at a grocery store in the 90's, with very draconian policies. This was before everyone had cell phones, although many of us had pagers. They were cheap, and you could get in touch with someone that way. Just call the pager, enter your number, and the person can call you back. I had a pager. Anyway, there was a rolodex behind the video rental counter at the front of the store, with all of the employees' phone numbers, so that managers could call us any time of the day or night, for any reason. This rolodex had my home landline number, which was NOT MY phone, it was my parents' phone. So you can imagine how that could potentially cause a big problem! First of all, I did NOT want my parents' home phone number sitting unsecured in a public place where literally anybody could access it. Yes,…
Time to find a new job.
I have been working as a security guard for about 4 years now. I hear my company lost the contract for most of the posts in my area and another security company is coming in. Luckily this won't take effect until the Summer so I got plenty of time to look for something else. I don't want to work in security anymore and looking for a career change. I currently live with my dad and he offers me a job. But I don't want to work for $10hr anymore and looking for a livable wage job. I'm trying to get into working from home since that is popular and I think that will be more fitting. Another option for me is to stick with my current company. Than when they go under and if they let me go I could collect unemployment for a while. What are some other options…
Just remembered this gem
About 7-8 years ago a colleagues relative died and she asked the boss/owner if she could take few days off to go to funeral since it's out of the country. The answers: “oh god everything is more important than work to you guys”
