Laid off for being in the ICU
I've worked somewhere over 23 years in I.T.. I also served in the Naval Reserve but wasn't activated by federal order, only took Active Duty voluntarily which doesnt qualify me for VA benefits. I was always told to go to work, work hard and the company will take care of you from my parents. So thats exactly what I did. Wife, child, and worked hard even made employee of the month many times in my Company. The company I worked for was a small local successful company that got acquired by a large corporation when the founder died. I was the manager and continued to work late hours, miss my sons sport events, and sacrifice time. By no fault of my own, I felt sick for a week, and later would find out my gull blatter erupted inside my stomach and caused me to go septic quick. I ended up…
Isn’t it crazy how all of these companies can suddenly pay above the $15 minimum wage that was being advocated for? Chipotle is at a similar rate with a sign that says they have a path to earning 100K a year in 3 years time. The simple answer is if these companies wanted to pay a living wage, they obviously can. Corporations (small and large with few exceptions) are only here to break down the spirit of their workers so they believe they are not worth being well compensated in order to justify their egregious greed. Working at the corporate level as a salaried employee is not much better. If anything it’s worse because there are no overtime protections. Lube up your bunghole kids! Coming in hot!
She also bullies me regularly and has me drive her around without paying for the 4/gallon gas. I refuse to respect someone that doesn't respect me, but for fuck's sake my grades and graduation are in her hands. After she abandoned a project she said she would help me with, she told me I look like I don't brush my hair and walked away. I messaged her “I can't finish today, I'm going home and I'll make up my hours tomorrow.” She then messaged me asking why. I don't owe her an answer so I don't give her one. Again, she bullies me and she's generally awful at her job. Two weeks go by and she brings me to her office and says “if this were the real world you would have been fired for not communicating. Even if your boss texts you off the clock you need to respond.”…
